Moved by Mr. VanBenschoten, seconded by Mr. Cummings, that the minutes of
Jlzly 10, 24 and 29 be approved as mailed, Ayes - Cummings, VaxiBenSchoten,
Graham, Robinson.
Claim Nos. 209 to 238 of the Highway Department in the amount of $38,075.05
and Claim Nos. 227 to 246 of the General Fund in the amount of $1,714.6o
were presented fox audit. [rer, Cummings moved that the bills be paid and the
Clerk instructed to draw warrant for them. Seconded by Mr. Graham, Ayes -
Cumm ngs, VanBensohoten, Grahaln, Robinson.
Monthly reports from the Town Clerk, Zoning Officer, ToNn Justice Heffron
and Lyle Ra3nrrond , RMC Rep., were xeviewed by the board,
Correspondence consisted of s I Letter ftom Sa.m MacWeil regarding Veterans'
real property tax exemption; 2 Letter, from Amexi.c:an Community Cablevision
notifying us off'the delay in rate increase until October 1, 1984, if
approved at hearing scheduled. for Sept. 12; 3) Letter of -resignation from
Diane ha;rington as leotion Inspector due to full tzjne job; 4) Rotice of
statewide increase in rilorkman's Gompensatiorr of 7.8%; 5) Notice of Municipal
Officials Meetzn to be held Sept. 26 at 6:30 PIll at the Ithaca, Holiday Inn.
Supervisor and Highway Suparintendent wrote letter to Allen Cob= of the
Department, of Environmental Conservation regarding emergency work to be
done in Peg Mill Creek to replace broken water line and culvert replacement,

RESOLVED, that the Town Board authorize the Groton Town Highway
Superintendent to do work in at]xea;os in the Tokm of Groton when he

Supervisor Robinson explained to board that 1983 yearend report monies
allocated foie retirement were not included aye should have been done according
to auditor now auditing Town records. June 1984 retirement paid fox 1982
and 1983 retirements -� we are always paying one year behind and now auditors
want money accrued for 1984, This means Town wi.iJ, pay double one year
(approximately $60,000.00) . Auditor will have MOXE infer and options available
for Srpervisor later this month.

as Election Inspector to replaoe Diane Harrington Ayes - Cummings,

Tichenox Gravel Bank purchase is a General Fund expenditure. Financing
arrangements will be made at a later date.

Attorney Fitzgerald deported that he had contacted Judge xegardlni John Anderson
continuing to bring garbage in, He was informed that calander was booked until
October. Judge suggested Supervisor and Anderson's Attorney talk and prevail
order, Anderson has now constructed fenr:e aLvid it's impassible to see yard
from xoad.

Family and Children's Service of I'tha.ca in continuing Division for
Youth Prrogram for the remainder of 1984 at an additional cost of
$1,' 43.08 per Agreement effective August 10 1984,

Harold Ga�gill asked Board to look into information on early xetirement
that- he has heard. is available. Supervisor will check into and get back
to Mr. Caxgill.
Roger Gleason would like Town to give :release on property he purchased
fxom Lockwood whiQh still has a 1938 Agreement with Town authorizing Town
to take gravel and build roads.

WIEREAS, the Town Board entered into an Agreement kith the heirs of
W, Scott Brown dated April 4, 1931 and recorded in .the Tompkins County
Clerk's office in Book 1 of Groton Deeds at page 491 whex'eby the Town
could purchase gravel from property owned, by them and located on the
Old Stage Road for the Burn of $55,00 per mile (14, x 1'') until 'the
gravel was exhausted, and
WHEREAS, the Town Highway Superintendent has examined the property
and informed the board that all supplies of gravel on the sub jeot
property have been e hauled fog' many fears, and
BE IT RESOLVED, that the Town of Groton arelea.se to the present owners
of the subject premis3es any right, title and interest they may have by
virtue of the afox`esa.id Agreement, that the Town Attorney be authorized,
to prepare the necessary documentation to eff'ec't such release, that
the Supervisor be authorized to execute the same pn behalf of the Town.
