driveway and also a truck load going in at 3:30 P.M. on December 8. Highway
Superintendent will check to see if it is new or old junk just being moved
around,
Moved by Mr. Sovocool, seconded by Mr-., VanBenschoten, to hold a Special
Town Board Meeting on Thursday, December 29, 1983, at 9:00 A.M. to close
out year -end business and perform annual accounting of all Town records.

Board reviewed letter from Planning Board regarding proposed, changes in
Zoning Code. Moved. by Mr. VanBenschoten, seconded by Mr. Carey, to
approve changes and to table until such time as other changes in the
Zoning law have been finalized. and presented to the board, Ayes' -
Sovocool, VanBenschoten, Carey, Robinson.
There being no further business, Mr. Sovocool moved to adjourn meeting ,
seconded by Mr. VanBenschoten, at 9:15 P.Ma

MINUTES OF SPECIAL TOWN BOARD MEETING HELD THURSDAY, DECEMBER 299 1983,
AT 9:00 A . MI .
Those present: Teresa M. Robinson, Supervisor
Ellard L. Sovocool, Councilman
Gordon C. VanBenschoten, Councilman
Francis P. Carey, Councilman
Absent: Verl Rankin, Jr., Councilman
Jack Fitzgerald, Attorney
Also present: Leland Cornelius, Donald Griffen, Carl Haynes
Purpose of
meeting
was
to close out year -end, business and. perform annual
accounting
of all
town
records.
Mayor Griffen and Mr. Haynes were present to present new Groton brochure as
compiled by the Citizens Committee for the Economic Development of Groton.
Brochure will be ready for distribution in two or three weeks. The expenses
incurred for the brochure totaled. approximately $4000. The Village and
Citizens Committee asked the Torn to contribute $1000 towards brochure.
Mayor Griffen also informed board of status of negotiations with SCM.
RESOLUTION NO. 31 - GROTON BROCHURE PUBLICATION EXPEITSES
Moved by Mrs. Robinson, seconded by Mr. Sovocool

RESOLVED, that the Town of Groton will contribute $1000 towards
publication of Groton brochure to be paid from Part Town unexpended
funds.
RESOLUTION NO. 32 - AUTHORIZATION TO PAY VILLAGE FOR JOINT YOUTH
RECREATION PROJECT
Moved by Mfr. Sovocool, seconded by Mr. VanBenschoten
Ayes - Sovocool, VanBenschoten, Carey, Robinson
RESOLVED, that the Torn of Groton pay the Village of Groton $3200
for our share of the 1983 Joint Youth Recreation Project,
Mr. Carey-indicated that a sign is needed on Route 222 designating location
of Lick Street. Supervisor or Highway Superintendent will check with the
State since it is a State Highway,
Claim Nos. to of the Highway Fund in the amount of $

RESOLVED, that the Supervisor be authorized to make necessary transfer
of funds from various accounts to meet expenses.
Supervisor Robinson thanked Councilman Frank Carey for
years and also Councilman Verl Rankin for his services
