MINUTES OF TOWN BOARD MEETING HELD ALORDAY, MARCH 14, 1983 AT 7.30 P M
Those present: Teresa M. Robinson, Supervisor
Francis P. Carey, Councilman

Also present: Leland 'Cornelius, Raymond Samson, Nancy McGuerty
Mr. Sovocool moved that the minutes of February 14 be approved as mailed.
Seconded by P+r. VanBenschoten. Ayes - Sovocool, Rankin, VanBenschoten,
Carey, Robinson.
Claim Nos. 59 - 80 of the Highway.Fund in the amount of $7,454.70 and
Claim Nos. 57 to 80 of the General Fund. in the amount of $9,659.53 were
presented for audit. Some discussion was held on paying Claim No. 68 to
Swartout and Ferris for bus trip to NYC and Claim No. 65 for mileage paid
to Court Clerk to go to work. Mr. Rankin moved to pay bills with the
exception of Claim No. 68 for Swartourt and Ferris bus trip in the amount
of $345.00 and mileage portion of Claim No. 65 in the amount of $1.26.
Seconded by Mr. VanBenschoten. Ayes - Sovocool, Rankin, VanBenschoten,
Carey. Nay - Robinson.

Mr. Raymond Samson of Cayuga Street was present to ask board for a variance
in zoning to accommodate a motor vehicle repair shop in a residential zone.
He has built a pole barn type building on Cayuga Street. He wants a part
time motor vehicle repair shop business. All work will be none inside.
He will comply with all requirements. Town board will refer request to
Tompkins County Planning Board for their review since property is located
on State Highway Route 38.
Monthly reports from Town Clerk and Zoning Officer were reviewed. One
Building permit was issued, letters were written to violators and Charles
Volbrecht has not renewed his Motor Vehicle Repair Shop permit. '
Correspondence reviewed: N YS Office of Parks, Recreation and. Historical
Preservation has opportunities fox, funding, technical assistance and staff
training for local Recreation and Park Commissions; Cortland County is having
a `Raining School for Peace Officers; Tompkins County Board of Representatives
are seeking nominees to the Economic Opportunity Corporation Board of Directors;
Tompkins.County Municipal Officials will meet Saturday, March 19 at 9:00 A.M.
at Holiday Inn to discuss budgets and CHIPS Program with Senator Riford and
Assemblyman MacNeil; Croton Business Association will meet March 23 at 7:30 PM
at the Fare Station to discuss change in structure.
Tompkins Counties SPCA Director and Manager have resigned.. Board is currently
looking for replacements. Town has not been notified of any change in
dog control services.

at 8:00 P.M.
Mr. Evans, Atty. Fitzgerald and
Planning Board members
will meet
at that time
to finalize all pertinent material.
Attorney Fitzgerald reported that John Anderson court case has been rescheduled
for March 31 before Judge Bryant.

RESOLVED, that the Town Board authorize Attorr.ey Fitzgera,:l.d to
c0110rnunicate with Charlles Volbrecht on obtaining a Motor vehicle
Repair Shop Perini t since he has ignored all correspondence from
the Zoning Officer,

Robert Dempsey Insu ante Agency advised. hoard that they may knish to increase

Moved by Mr. VanBenschoten, seconded by Mr. Sov0000l, to pay claim no. 68
to Swa�thout and Fa rids, Inc. in the amount of $345.00 for bus trip to NYC.

Leland Cornelius stated town should do something about gravel bank. He must
be able to irlect pioposYd recl.ama.tion of current bank. Moved by 17x•. Rankin,
seconded by Mir. Saray to table until later, Unanimous
Board and Attorney discussed, procedure for Raymond Samson's request to res,�orke.
Must go to county first. SUpervISOr will contact County Planning Dept. and.
then contact Attorney for local paxocedures.

Monthly reports from Town Clerk and Zoning Officer were reviewed. Also
reviewed was a letter to Board fzam Nargaret Palmer indicating "she is not
aow, nor has she ever 'been, an employee of the town. She i a self employed
stenographer with whom the 'k.own contracts for hex services, paying � See and
expenses for this service.,, No action taken on this.
Discussed contracting w7,'th Learning Web.. Mr, Carey felt that if they don't
get better results than last yeaar, it would be difficult for him to approve
next yeax. Supervisor Robinsoon said they are adapting more to our school
now a.nd working with individuals.,
