Twenty -seven people paid $136.00/ea. some time ago and nothing ha.s been done. He will request answers as to why it isn't done yet and request a schedule and completion date. Also Attorney Bucko will contact the Federal Communication System and the State Cable Television Commission as to action that can be taken, possibly demanding interest on money $3,600). Contract indicated a completion date of January 19, 1980. Some discussion was held on the LVRR. A meeting was scheduled for Wed., January 3 to take action on relinquishing Town's rights to purchase. Carey, Councilman Gordon C. VanBenschoten, Councilman Ellard. L. Sovocool, Councilman Benjamin J. Bucko, Town Attorney Also present: Leland Cornelius Purpose of meeting was to consider preferential rights the Town has to the Lehigh Valley Railroad property. The following resolution was presented: RESOLUTION N0. 1 - TOWN OF GROTON RELINQUISHES ITS PREFERENTIAL RIGHT TO PURCHASE LEHIGH VALLEY RAILROAD RIGHT -OF -WAY Introduced by Nr. Sovocool, seconded by Ivlr. Rankin WHEREAS, the Lehigh Valley Railroad Company has offered to sell the railroad right -of -way located in the Town of Groton, said .night -of -way being a parcel running North and South from the town line of the Town of Dryden on the South to the county line of Cayuga County on the North, and WHEREAS, the State of New York and the County of Tompkins have relinquished their preferential rights to purchase said railroad right -of -way, and WHEREAS, the Town Board of the Town of Groton have deemed it not in the best interest of the Town of Groton to purchase said railroad right-of-way, Now, therefore, BE IT RESOLVED that the Toilrn of Groton hereby relinquishes its preferential right to purchase said railroad right -of -way and shall advise the Lehigh Valley Railroad Company through-'.its trustee in bankruptcy that. the Town of Groton will not purchase the railroad right -of -way located in the Town of Gro ton .
