Hx. VarEBens haten moved to accept minutes of December 3, 1979 board, meeting.
December 27 minutes were not completed due to yeax end transfers. Seconded

Supervisor Robinson informed board members that auditors would be in on
Tuesday, January 8 to go over findings and board members are welcome to
attend..
Claims 41 to ff6 of the Highway Department and #1 to .58 of the General
Fund were presented for audit. Mr. Sovocool moved that the bills be
paid and the clerk instructed to draw warrant for them. Seconded by
Mr. VanBenschoten. Ayes - VanBenschoten, Sovocool, Carey, Robinson.
Monthly reports were z•eviewed..
Mr. Frank Satterly reported the following: Mr. Harris Dates was elected
unanimously as Chairman of the Board of Representatives; stressed the
importance of ToTem Boards appointment of representatives to various
county organizations and that they report back to Town Board -- all
meetings are important =- transportation, Youth Board, Planning Board, etc.

unanimously., RESOLVED, that the First National Bank of Groton
be designated as the depository for all monies coming in the
hands of the Supervisor and Town Clerk of the Town of Groton.
b) Moved by Mr. Sovocool, seconded. by Air. VanBenschoten. Adopted
unanimously. RESOLVED, that the Groton Journal and Courier be
designated�qa,s the official newspaper of the Town of Groton.

unanimously. RESOLVED, that Benjamin J. Bucko be appointed
Town Attorney for the Town of Groton.
d) Moved by Mr. Sovocool, seconded by Mr. Carey. Adopted unanimously.
RESOLVED, that Richard French be appointed as Constable for the
Town of Groton.
e) Moved by Mrs. Robinson, seconded by Mr. Sovocool. Adopted
unanimously. RESOLVED, that Verl Rankin, Jr. be appointed
Deputy Supervisor for the Town of Groton.
f) Moved by Mr. Sovocool, seconded by Mr. VanBenschoten. Adopted
unanimously. RESOLVED, that Laura Haughn be appointed Deputy
Town Clerk of the Toim of Groton.
g) Moved by Mr. Carey, seconded by Per. VanBenschoten. Adopted
unanimously. RESOLVED, that Robert Brolem be appointed Zoning
Officer for -the Town of Groton.
h) Moved by P9r. Casey, seconded by Mr. VanBenschoten. Adopted
unanimously. RESOLVED, that small tool expenditures of up to
$500.00 by the Highway Superintendent be authorized.
i) Moved by Mr. Rankin, seconded-by Mr. Sovocool. Adopted unanimously.
RESOLVED, that Harold (Slim) Cargill be appointed as Deputy
Highway Superintendent.

unanimously. RESOLVED, that Henry Sincerbeaux be appointed
as Town Historian for the Town of Groton. •

RESOLVED, that the Town Board. does hereby fix the salaries of the
following Totem Officers and employees at the mounts respectfully
stated and, that such salaries shall be paid at the times

as Delegate to the Annual Association of Towns Meeting to be held
February 17 -20. Moved by Mrs. Robinson, seconded by Mr. Sovocool to appoint
Verl Rankin as an alternate. Adopted unanimously.
Supervisor Robinson informed board members that the Gadabout Bus was in
the area.
Attorney Bucko has reviewed 1980 Dog Contract and. indicated that it is
valid. Everything will go to the County except 500 that is to be retained
by the Town. (Per Dog License). Contract was passed previously.
Clerk read public notice of 1980 Pickup Truck Bids at 8:00 P.M. Supervisor
Robinson opened two bids received: Peter & Sons - $5,888.00; Dates
® Chevrolet - $5,714.00. Dates was low bidder by $174.00. Attorney Bucko
and Highway Superintendent Leland Cornelius looked over bids and all
appeared to be in order with non- collusive-forms attached as part of bid.

RESOLVED, that the bid from Dates Chevrolet in the amount of
$5,714.00 for a 1980 Pickup Truck be accepted.
Attorney Bucko has asked L. K. blood to take pictures of James Lockwood
property on Old Stage Road who is in violation of Town Zoning Ordinances.

Attorney Bucko will contact Ceracche TV regarding extension of line service
to McLean- GOIAland road residents. Trtrenty� seven people paid 136.O0 ea.
some time ago and nothing has been done. He will request, answers as to

Attorney Bucko will contact the Federal Communication System and the State
Gable Television Commj,ssion as to action that can be taken, possibly

the railroad rlg ht- of -wa.,y located in the Town of Croton, said
right -of -ray being a pare l running Noxth and South coin the town
line of the Town of D2�yden an the South to the county line of
Cayuga County on the Forth, and
IIIHFREAS, th6 State cf New York and the County of Tompkins have
relinquished thelr preferential rights to purchase said railroad
right- of` -way, and
KM AREAS, the Town Board of the 'Town of Groton have deemed it not
in the 'best interest of the Town of Croton to purchase said
railxoa.d right -of -way,
Now, therefore, BE IT RESOLVED that the Town of Groton hereby
relinquishes its preferential right to purchase said railroad
Fight -of -way and shall advise 'thc Lehigh Valley Railroad Company
through-.!'ts trustee. in bankruptcy tha,t_th?. Town: of 'Groton will
not purchase the railroad Tight of -way located in the Town of
