MINUTES OF SPECIAL TOWN BOARD MEET:I RG HELD WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 17, 1979 @ Noon
Those present: Teresa M. Robinson, Supervisor
Robert F. Walpole, 'Town Justice
Verl Rankin, Jr., Councilman
Absent: Gordon C. VanBenschoten, Councilman
Ellard L. Sovocool, Councilman
Benjamin J. Bucko, Town Attorney
Also present: Leland Cornelius, All Highway Employees
Purpose of meeting was highway negotiations for 1980.
Highway employees asked for 600 per hour gage increase, one sick day per
month, and, three weeks paid, vacation after ten years employment.
Town Board made offer of 400 increase per hour with Vacation, Holidays •
and sick time remaining the same as 1979. Dennis VanBerkom will get 400
per hour increase also.
J. Holl, spokesman for Highway Association, said 400 is fair, drop the
sick days, 'but three weeks should be added in for vacation. Frank, Slim,
John and Jerry will be eligible for three weeks vacation in 1980.
Mr. Walpole asked the employees what their priorities were- -raise or
vacation? Both have equal priorities. Will higher increase in wages offset
three weeks paid vacation? No, they want third week of vacation. Most
other employers give three weeks vacation after seven or eight years service.
Board members discussed hourly increase and three weeks paid vacation after
ten years.

RESOLVEED, that the Board does tentatively agree to proposal of 400
per hour wage increase, sick days remain the same, and to increase
vacation time to three weeks after ten years with final approval
corning at the October 22 Board Toleeting.
Tompkins County Municipal Officials' Association will meet October 24 at
the Lehigh Valley Restraurant at 7:30 P.M. with ,john Murphy the speaker.

Discussed highway negotiations held at a previous meeting.
