Not present: John Pachai. Item #I : Meeting Report for May 6th, 2003 The 5/6/03 Meeting Report is changed to delete references to a requested interpretation of what a Campground is from the CEO. The ZBA does not have legal authority to provide such interpretations to the CEO without an appeal from a decision made by the CEO. Motion made by Steve Thane to approve this change; seconded by Pat Gaines; approved by affirmation of all ZBA members present (Gaines, Raymond, Trzaska, Thane). Item #2: Storage Facilities It has been brought to the attention of the ZBA by the CEO that the Groton Code does not define what a storage facility is, in particular, application of the Code to "storage trailers. " The ZBA received information on storage facilities in regard to zoning codes from Heather Filiberto, Senior Planner, Tompkins County Planning Department; and Lyle Raymond and Steve Thane checked surrounding towns and the City of Ithaca to see what their Codes contained concerning storage facilities (in two towns, nothing). Item #3: Definition of Storage Unit The ZBA recommends the following definition to be added to the Groton Code: "Portable Accessory Storage Unit: A factory-produced accessory building brought to the site as a trailer and intended to be used for storage. " This definition is derived from the Mobile Home definition in the Groton Code, and relates to "accessory" and "building" as it is defined in the Code. Item #4: Application The ZBA suggests that Special Permits be required where the Portable Accessory Storage Unit or units exceed 200 sq. feet in floor dimensions, and is/are located on the site for a period of time exceeding 30 days. The recommended additions to the Groton Code defining a "Campground" and "Portable Accessory Storage Unit" are to be sent to the Town Board for its consideration. Meeting adjourned at 8:30 PM.
