Present Gordon Hoy , Chairman Floyd Fouts Janet Bell Frank Pierson Fredric Blumberg Natalie Blumberg 670 Old Stage Road LEGAL NOTICE TOWN OF GROTON PLEASE TAKE NOTICE that the Zoning Hoard of Appeals , Town of Groton , County of Tompkins , State of New York , will hold a public hearing at the Town Hall , 101 Conger Boulevard , Groton , New York , on June 25 , 1979 , at 8s00 P . M . for the purpose of considering the application of Fredric and Natalie Blumberg of 670 Old Stage Road for a variance of the Zoning Ordinance of the Town of Groton in regard to distance from road right - of - way . Hoy : Want to put an extension on existing garage , ten foot extension . The building is 4. 5 feet from the road , re - quires 55 feet . Requesting a variance . Ten foot extension . J . Bells I have a question . Would this make it two feet higher ? F . Blumberg : Yes , two feet higher . l M, J . Bells How high would that make it ? F . Blumberg : One story would take an eight foot door . I don ' t know the existing height . The internal rafters are eight feet . I want ten foot height . J . Bell : Wouldn ' t that be twelve feet ? F . Blumberg .* Just under twelve feet . J . Bells Are you extending drive way ? F . Blumberg .& Yes . J . Bell : No way to put it on the other side ? F . Blumberg : No , sides of roof pretty steep . Roof then is to come off at a 900 angle from other roof . G . Hoy : Other questions ? F . Blumberg : Between existing garage and roadway , it drops into a ditch . Piping goes across other side of road . Doesn ' t affect main drive way . J . Bell : This is to extend garage to put kilm in for business ? F . Blumberg . Yes , my wife is a potter . F . Pierson : For a hobby ? N . Blumberg : To fill the inevitable . J . Bell : Is there a reason to put on this garage ? F . Blumberg : Have to have a larger building with another extension . We can use much of the existing garage . We cannot be short of water . Requires water lines and because of insurance problems . Separate building insurance rates are much lower . G . Hoy : I adjourn the hearing . Open for discussion . J . Bells Did you go back to see it ? F . Pierson .* No . G . Hoy : Yes , went by it to come here tonight . Has a high ditch . However , it isn ' t closer to the road than the building al . ready there . J . Bell : No point considering about it . F . Pierson : It is a real nice looking place if he put it to the side . I think it probably would look nicer doing it this way than a special building . If looking for continuity , this is more than building an angle to it . G . Hoy : So , anyone make a motion ? F . Pierson : I make a motion that we grant a permit to grant variance to Mr . and Mrs . Blumberg of 670 Old Stage Road for an extension of their garage as requested . F . Fouts ,* Second the motion .
