RE : DESIGNATION OF COUNTY ROADS FOR USE BY SNOWMOBILES
At the December 20 , 1971 meeting of the Planning and Public
Works Committee , the matter of the use of County roads by snow.
mobiles was discussed . The Committee felt that the use of
County roads by Snowmobiles should be discouraged . However ,
the Committee did recognize that an occasional crossing and
possibly an occasional use of a short length of County roads
might be necessary to provide interconnection between important
snowmobile trails . Therefore , Howard Stevenson , Commissioner
of Public Works , was authorized to consider proposals for
crossings or use of short stretches of County roads where they
are important to the major trail systems .
The Committe6 has asked me to make this policy known to you .
