PRESENT : J . [Fargo - Chairman OTHERS PRESENT :

G . Hoy Hicks Dow - Town Supervisor
G . Lawrence Ben Bucko - Town Attorney
L . Volpicelli J . Bell - Recording Clerk
Also present were Mary Evelyn Dempsey - Cortland Standard and Arthur Clark - Ithaca
Journal . W . McDermott representing John Lewis and M . Brown and approximately 50
people of the general public .
This special meeting was held to render decisions on two requests for variances ,
one on behalf of George Bushnell of Peruville Road for a front footage variance so
he could install a trailer on his property in addition to his existing home and the
other one on behalf of Lewbro Corporation for a variance to build a cement mix
plant in an agricultural zone .
Richard Bell , Gordon Hoy and J . Wargo discussed and decided on the Bushnell request
as follows :
J . Wargo : I didn ' t get to see these people at all . I stopped there last night but
nobody was there .
R . Bell : I stopped and looked the property over one day , - looked all the way around
and it ' s still a swampy mess out there to the side of it . My feeling is .
that they can still buy more property to make up the additional footage
on it so I am voting No .

J . Wargo : Will someone make a motion one way or the other ?
R . Bell : I make the motion that the variance not be granted .
G . Hoy : I second the motion .
J . Wargo : A motion has been made and seconded that the variance be denied , - - all
those in favor .
It was unamimously passed that this variance not be granted .

the LEWBRO request as follows :
J . Wargo : After a delay , finally found the Use Variance Application for LEWBRO
dated received August 6 , 1974 . I also have a letter containing re -
commendations on this from Frank Liguori , the Commissioner of the

J . Wargo : Tompkins Department of Planning which is attached hereto and made a
part of these minutes .
Would one of the members of this Board make a motion for decision on
the application ?
G . Hoy : I make a motion that this variance be granted ,
R . Bell : I second the motion ,

The roll call vote was as follows : L . Volpicelli voted no , G .
