HomeMy WebLinkAboutWell survey, Community Member Meeting � CSEnemv eu:ld;nq a Cie�-er Future May 8, 2023 West Groton Cemetery 101 Conger Blvd Groton, NY 13073 RE: Yellow Barn Solar Project - Private Well Survey Dear Sir or Madam: As you may be aware, CS Energy (the Applicant), is proposing to construct an up to 160-megawatt (MW) solar energy generation facility, including associated infrastructure, in the Towns of Groton and Lansing, Tompkins County, New York.The proposed Facility is subject to the rules and regulations for siting a major renewable energy facility under Section 94-c of the New York State Executive Law (Section 94-c). Please refer to the project website for additional details regarding the proposed Facility at: https://yellowbarn- solar.com/. Comprehensive work is currently underway to identify various environmental and built resources in the vicinity of the Facility.This information will be used to inform Facility design and siting,which will ultimately be presented in the Section 94-c Siting Permit Application submitted to the Office of Renewable Energy Siting. As required by the Section 94-c regulations, the Applicant is mailing the attached voluntary survey to landowners within the vicinity of the proposed Facility to identify the presence and condition of private water,oil,and/or gas wells so that they may be evaluated during Facility siting and design to ensure required setbacks are met and impacts are avoided. In order to properly identify water, oil, and/or gas wells on your property, we request that you fill out the attached survey form and sketch sheet regarding this property to the best of your knowledge and return the completed form at your earliest convenience in the included stamped envelope. Yellow Barn Solar is a 160 megawatt (MW) solar project located along Pleasant Valley Road, East of Van Ostrand Road in Lansing and West of Smith Road in Groton. Construction of the project is scheduled to commence in late 2024 or early 2025. The purpose of this letter is to extend an invitation to you for our upcoming Meeting with Community Members, which will take place in Lansing on June 22"d, 2023, at the Lansing Town Board Room, located at 29 Auburn Road, Lansing, NY 14882, and in Groton on June 23rd, 2023, at the Groton Town Hall, located at 101 Conger Boulevard, Groton, NY 13073. Both meetings will be held from 7- 8:30pm and are open to all members of both communities. Representatives from CS Energy will be in attendance at the meetings to provide detailed information about the proposed project in accordance with 19 NYCRR §900-1.3(b), including the anticipated application date and information regarding the Office of Renewable Energy Siting (ORES) 94-c application process.
