HOYSO Mr. Lane would you expla:*Ln what you have in mind to do?
0
LANE: Mostly body work. I will combine some mechanical repairs if
it has anything to do with the body work.
HOYE# It is generally -mostly body work?
LANE: Right, what I can do I will,, mat I can't, I won't.
BELL How much ground de you won.?
LA NE The lot is 207 x 416, approximately two acres*
HOYES Have you received your State License?
LANE: Yes.
BELLS You have a copy of the requirements for the machine shop and
do you comply with them.
Yes.
RAPP4 My questions are for the Board. Number ane,, I would like to
know what the variance in itself entitles as far as cars parked
on the premises. I'm not against Gary conducting business. I'm
more worried about after shocks, Is it going to affect our real
estate values? I think tied in with mechanical work,, they
-,2.
might want to try out the goods on a straight away road. I don't
want to see it turn into a race strip. If this were going to happen,
if the Board is going to approve the requ4st, would they consider
putting in some slow bumps along the way. I would like to know what
the variance itself states. Is it a law that only three unlicensed
vehicles are permitted on the premises?
BELL: This is for a special permit. Have you read the requirements
of the Motorized Vehicle Repair Shop Ordinance?
Mrs. Bell proceeded to read with requirements with the help of
Mr. Hoye. 1004,8 Motorized Vehicle Repair Shope, Zoning
Ordinance, Town of Groton.
HOYE# (Referring to No. 5) He has stated that he does not intend to
carry spare parts on hand but to purchase them as he needs
them* I realize this does not fully answere your question,,
Unless Chuck can help us.
VOLBRECHT: 99 per cent of the people get in the car and drive home.
I have taken the cars out and test drive them. It' s been
two years since anybody got in their car,, gone down the road.
and. back.
HOPE* He is doing mostly body work not enp-*ne repair and you don't
test for body work.
LANE* Any night work as it comes in, take apart and put together,
RAPP, You' re not going to turn into a race tvack?
1ANE: There is not kids up there any more. * won't have that much
of a problem. The fastest vehicles not I think are the milk
trucks and school buses.
HOYE* Does that anvvier your question pretty much? There is not way
we can guarantee anything else. I don't see where a body shop
will be a problem. Joe :ora has a repair shop around there, are
there any problems with his business?
RAPP, lie is on the other road. As far as the number of vehicles what
is the reouirement?
BELL: Cannot park on the street and must have off-street parking too
3 per bay.
RAPP& As far as places like Whites on West (Groton Rd, the trend is to
stay away from them, 4Ae would, fnt want one of those near us.
HOYE: In repair shops we try to hold it down.
RAPP: I -was wondering is there is something to that effect where 'we
live. Those were m,
,v main questions,,
BUSHNELL: Will this be full time or part time?
LANE: Right now parttime. Hopefully sometime to be full time.
SKETH You live on the premises?
L kN E: Ye s.
PI SON: On the number of cars listed, will it -make a deffernce how manor
your have'
LA:E: As lone as I have parking for nine cars.
BELL 0 Riaht, do vou.
LA.T,IE: I have that many.
HOYE90 If there are no more questions, the hearing is closed,
After a brief discussion, the Board took a roll call vote, The Board
