MINUTES OF PRELIMINARY BUDGET HEARING HELD CCTMER 25 , 1982 AT 7 : 30 P . M .

Hearing was called to order at 7 : 30 P . M . by Teresa. Robinson , Supervisor .
Clerk read legal notice of Preliminary Budget Hearing as published in
Groton Journal and Courier on October 20 , 1982 .
T . Robinson : This is the Federal Revenue Sharing Budget . Any questions ?
It hasn ' t changed since the proposed. use hearing .
Machinery - $ 15 , 000 ; Oil and Stone - $ 16 , 000 ; Day Care -
$ 2 , 000 ; Signs - $ 1 , 284 ; Gad-A-Bout - $ 1 , 500 ; Human Services -
$400 . Total - $ 361184 0
T . Robinson : R . Walpole wanted to know if $ 2000 of FRS money could. be
used ;for smoke detectors to be installed in homes in the
Town . Maybe we could save a few lives . Safety is a top
priority .
Some discussion of the legalities of this were discussed by
board members . Will take up at regular board meeting .
T . R . Any further comments or questions on Federal Revenue Sharing Budget?
T . Robinson : This is a summary of the Preliminary Budget . Are there any
questions ? The approximate rates are : . 61 for McLean Lights ,
. 82 for Peruville Lights , 1 . 33 for McLean Fire ; . 77 for
Groton Fire ; 4 . S9 town wide and 2 . 39 part town = 6 . 98 for 1983 •
V . Rankin : Where does highway salary come out of?
T . Robinson : All. four highway accounts . Look at page 29 . . 1 is personnel ;
. 4 is materials ; . 2 is machinery or equipment ; . 8 is services .
L . Cornelius : What amount do you have under machinery on page 27?
7' . Robinson : I ' ll read all amounts . Social Security should be $4400 .
T . Robinson : Any other questions ?
V . Rankin : We ' re still in public hearing , right?
T . Robinson : Yes . We need a motion to accept budge if no one has any
further comments .
Robert Walpole moved to accept preliminary budget as presented . Seconded by
Leland Cornelius .
Air . Sovocool moved that hearing be closed at MO P . M . Seconded by
Mr . Rankin . Unanimous
