RESOLUTION N0. 25 - CON TRIBUTICN TO ARTS COUNCIL Moved by Mr. VanBenschoten, seconded by Mr. Sovocool Ayes - Sovocool, VanBenschoten, Cummings, Haynes, Robinson RESOLVED, that the Tovm of Groton contribute $50.00 to the Tompkins County Arts Council to offset money contributed to local .programs by the Arts Council. Correspondence consisted of: 1) Received. American Community Cablevision Franchise fee of $561.24; 2) Letter from Mike Post regarding $750 fee for putting zoning code amendments on computer; 3) Notice of hearing from Town of Dryden to put a Little Wheels Speedway on the corner of Route 38 and Route 34B; 4) Letter from tire disposal service out of Buffalo. • Reports of zoning violations (unlicensed vehicles) are: 1) McKane on Devlen Road; 2) Egar on Stauber Road; 3) Ayers on Old Stage Road. VanBenschoten, Councilman Jack Fitzgerald, Attorney Arrived Late: Donald E. Cummings, Councilman Carl E. Haynes, Councilman Also present: Leland Cornelius, Herbert Adams, Donna Rude, John & Janet McMullin, John & Ethel McMullin, Charles Bush Moved by Mr. Sovocool, seconded by Mr. VanBenschoten, to approve minutes of June 13th meeting as mailed. Ayes - Sovocool, VanBenschoten, Robinson (Absent - Haynes and Cummings). Claim Nos. 173 to 198 of the Highway Fund in the amount of $13,832.53 and Claim Nos. 302 to 333 of the General Fund in the amount of $9,098.92 were presented for audit. Moved by Mr., VanBenschoten, seconded by Mr. Haynes, that the bills be approved for payment. Ayes - Sovocool, VanBenschoten, Cummings, .Haynes, Robinson. Reviewed correspondence and Town Justice Heffron's monthly report. Gary Wood reported that 42 building permits have been issued -to date this year. Mrs. Donna Rude submitted a petition to board signed by residents of Salt Road to have road better posted and reducing the speed limit to 45 or 50 because of small children and slow moving farm equipment. She also sub- mitted letter to Board regarding a speeding vehicle on July 10 and report- ing of same to the Tompkins County Sheriffs Department, RESOLUTIal N0. 26 - REQUEST TO COTNTY HIGHWAY DEPARTMENT FOR REDUCTICH OF SPEED LIMIT ON SALT ROAD MOVED BY Mr. Haynes, seconded by Mr. Cummings Ayes - Sovocool, VanBenschoten, Cummings, Haynes, Robinson RESOLVED, that the Totim Board of the Town of Groton does hereby request the Tompkins County Highway Department to consider a reduction in the speed limit on Salt Road from Stevens Road to Route 222 to either 45 or 50 miles per hour. Roger Gleason has applied 'to the DEC to extend his Mining Daxmit on Claxk Street Extension. As lead agency, the Town Board must approve any extension. He also submitted a statement from Dr. VerNooy regarding his Wife's medibal problem and a variance application for Board to consider.
