Claim Nos, 121 to 145 of the Highway Fund in the amount of $9,185.00 and
Claim N08, 195 to 228 of the General Fund in the amount of $8,310.? were
presented for audit. Moved by Kr. Sovocool, seconded by Mr. Cummings,
that the bills be approved, for payment. Ayes - Sovocool, vaaEenschoten ,
Umrnings, Robinson (Absent - Haynes).
Dison Jacobi was present, to complain about notice he received in the mail
from the Zoning Gfficex regarding violations of the zoning ordinance. lie
stated he way not prroperty owner and he had no ,junk around his trailer,
He showed pictures to Board and wanted to know what was wxong with his yaxd.
Board indicated violatiori was in xeSerence to trailer not being skirted
since 1984 which he had been notified of previously. Mr. Jacobs wanted to
know how come a building peruat wa } issued to a neighbor (Trinkle's property)
with less than 200" road Frontage. Mr, Jacobs stated that when a few
people comply he would. He doesn't 'chink Town is being faix to evexyone.
He s'ta'ted that his trailer i s s3�irt ed . Supervisor Robinson said you have
skix`ted it in the last week if it's skirted. Mr. Jacobs also stated that
Gary Wood would not get in touch with him, Attorney Fitzgerald will get
in touch with Mr. Wood and have him make an appointment with Mx. Jacobs.
The PIYBDOT is preparing plans for replacement of the State Route 38 bridge
over Owasco inlet in the Town. A public information meeting to outline
the improvements will, be Meld Wednesday, May 23, 1988, at 7 100 P. M, in the
cafeteria of the GzQton Central High School,
The Mayor of the City of Ithaca presented the Town and Village of Groton
with two Cornellian cherry trees which were planted, between the Residential
Care Facility and Senior Citizens Complex.

Discussed briefly d,isposltion of junk cars. Source in Moxavia Shopper
(Auburn) would not come this far to pick up vehicles. Possibly we can
dispose of vehicles in Conjunction with Dryden, ;supervisor will look
into and report back to Board,
Town Clerks and 'Fawn Justice Heffron's Monthly repoetf3 were reviewed.
Supervisor` Robinson provided information concerning hazards fxom chemicals
known to be in the workplace. The purpose of this instruction is to ensure
that the lbwn is in Compliance with the OSHA Hazard Communication Standard,
Kr. Al Ubous of McFaxland Johnson Phgi�ieers was present to go over proposal
for renovation and addition to 7b ?,4n Hall, What M] J reeds is a r`esolu'tion

can proceed with the work as descxdbed. Approximate cost of eonstrue'tion
is $320,000.00 plus $31,2-50.00 for' engineering services, $7,500.00 for

was discussed. Supervisox Robinson indicated that the Town has enouo

RESOLVED, that the Town Board authorize the 'Dawn Supervisor to
entex into a contract with EMJ McTa land- Johnson Engineers, Inc,
to provide professional services far an addition to the Town Mall
as outlined in thea.x lettex dated Max'ch 30x 1988, and
FURTHER RESOLVED, thhat the Supervisor's approval is to 'be subject
to referendum if required by law, and the submission of a detailed
contract by EMJ McFarland�Johnson Engineers, Inc,

EMOLU77CN NO, DECLINE CREATING POSITTON OF PEACE OFFICER
FOR THE TOWN;

Ayes - Sovaoaal, VanBenschoten, Cummings, Haynes, Robinson
WHEREAS, the Town Board has been requested by a. delegation of
the Groton Village Board to consider the employment., on a part -
time basis, of a Peace Officer as Town Constable for additional
police protection throughout the Town; and
WMRDIAS, the Town Board after due consideration has determined
that employment of a Peace Officer would increase the Town's
liability exposure thereby exacerbating the liability insurance
problem already existing for the 'Dawn; and
WHEREAS, the Town Board has also determined that adequate police
protection' is now being provided to the Town by the Tompkins
County Sheriff's Tepaxtnent and the New York State - PoliLCe.
NOW, THEREFORE, the Ppwn Board declines to cxea.te a position of
Peace Officer for the Town,
Highway Superintendent, Leland Cornelius, would like to purchase a new
grader. Will self, old grader. He can purchase Oaterpillar grader on
State bid contract,

Gary Wood, Code Enforcement Officer, reported that he had sent out 34
litters xega.rding zoning violations jr3Or to trash pickup days. He also
stated that Mr. JenSon's case is on hold until a, way can be Found to
dispose of jurkk +vehicles.
