To: Town of Enfield Town Board. I wish to be considered for an appointment as a Fire Commissioner for the proposed Enfield Fire District. I am a US Army Veteran having served my country as a soldier for more than 20 Years in the Active Army retiring in 1984. Upon my retirement I was employed by the Department of Defense for an additional 20 plus years retiring in 2005. I wish to be considered for this position because I believe in the American system of government and believe that it is each citizen's right and duty to participate in our governmental system. I believe that I could bring a willingness to listen to all of the issues on each side of the question and feel fully qualified to understand those issues and render a decision on the correct course of action. I feel strongly that the position of Fire Commissioner is one where leadership, budget experience, willingness and desire to insure the safety of our firefighters and community is of the utmost importance. I possess a Bachelors Degree in Computer Science and have over 30 years experience in the computer industry. Over that period of time I have occupied various positions of Leadership both as a US Army Officer and a Senior Supervisory Analyst while working for the Department of Defense. In my many and varied supervisory positions I have been intrically involved in the development, review, preparation and submission of budgets for both large and small organizations at various levels of the military and Federal government. I understand the budget process and believe I would be an asset to the Board of Fire Commissioners. I am supportive of the efforts of our Firemen in this community and have a strong belief that they should have all necessary equipment to safely and professionally perform their mission, which is the protection of our community, both lives and property. I am fully prepared to answer any further questions that the Town Board may have about my qualifications. t I avi bim . 4ck D-' 466 Fish Road Ithaca, NY 14850 Phone 273-0210 Dec 14, 2008 Mr. Podufalski: 121 S. "The tentative budget (I proposed) would have given a bigger benefit, but the board has the right to add what they want to my budget presentation." At last Monday's meeting, Ferrentino protested the $5,000 earmarked for stream monitoring and $11,000 added to the contingency fund, the latter of which may be used for a village community building. "I'm not confident that's a good use of taxpayer money right now," Fenentino said. "I think it's wrong. We need to keep taxes as low as we can." Austic and Fenentino maintained that money can't be contributed to a fund or project without a solid plan. "Right now, we don't have a plan," Austic said, referencing stream monitoring and contingency funds. Board member Liz Thomas disagreed. "Obviously I feel the changes weve made in the budget are worthwhile," she said. "It is difficult to tell our exact direction in advance, but now we have a bit of money to create more concrete plans and move ahead in these areas. As far as them increasing anyone's taxes, these amounts are rather small." Town Board member David Kemess agreed with Thomas. "Village and town surveys identified supporting the community center as a high priority item," he said. As for stream water testing, 'this may or may not be done only because there is an issue as to what to test for, where to test, frequency and what the test criteria are."
