Democrat, and was many years a road
commissioner. He is survived by
sister, Mrs. Downy and two brothers,
Moses and Joel.

suddenly at his late home on Saturday
18th, a wife, one daughter, and three
a y brothers and many relatives survive
liim to mourn his loss, the funeral was
held on Monday at his late residence.
The sdrvices were conducted by tiie
Rev. Mr. Thorn of Trumbull Corners.

the interment at Enfield Center.
Silas Harvey, one of the m/)st prom-
inent residents of the t wn of En-
field, died suddenly this morning of 1
heart disease. Yeste_aay lie was xn
around as usual attending to his du-
ties and remarked that lie was feeling
especially well but while dressing this
morning he fell dead. The physician '
pronounced death due to heart dis-
ease.
At the time of his death Mr. Har-
vey was seventy-five years of , age and
had resided in Tompkins county all
his life. His farm was situated. -about osn
two miles south of the village of EnX.

he attended actively to its duties. As P C
a member of the highway commis-
sion he filled the orrice faithfully for
many years and was re-elected several
times. His death will be deeply re-
gretted for he was known thoughout
this section 'as an honored and re- _
spected citizen and an earnest life-
long Democrat.
Mr. Harvey is survived by his
wife, daughter, Mrs. Dowry and two
brothers, Joel and Moses Harvey.

Sincere thanks are extended by the
family of the late Silas Harvey to the
friends and ❑eighbors for their kind-
ness, and deep sympathy manifested
toward them in their sudden bereav-
ment. we would add, that the fam-
ily have the sympathy of the entire
community, knowing the deceased to
be a kind husband, father and neigh.

The infant daughter of Mr. and
Mrs. Emmett Barber died August
23d. Interment in cemetery at En-
fle;d Center. Mrs. Barber the mother
of the child who has been dangerously
ill is recovering. Mrs. Cotton of Pa.,
who was called here on account of
her daughters illness has returned to
her home.
Dr. and Mrs. A. S. Bnigbt made a
short viait at Cortland last week.
Mrs. Ella Miller and daughter-in-
law Mrs. Howard Miller, entertained
a large company of ladies on Wednes-
day of last week. An elaborate sup-
per was furnished, and a very pleas-
ant time socially is reported ;by all
that were present.
George Batty and family of Ithaca
passed Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. N.
Hines.
Miss Sue Batty returned to Ithaca
last week having spent several days
with her sister Mrs. Hines here.
Charles Miller made a visit to North
Hector last week.
Mr. Brown of Ithaca is engaged to
teach the fell term of the school at
the Center. Miss Eoa Nobles will
teach in the Rollison district.
