HomeMy WebLinkAboutJanuary 7, 2026 Town of Enfield Planning Board Meeting MinutesTown of Enfield Planning Board Meeting Wednesday, January 7, 2026 7 PM In-person and via the Zoom Meeting Platform Present: Planning Board Chair Dan Walker; Planning Board Members, Ann Chaffee, Rich Teeter, Henry Hansteen, and Mike Carpenter (7:30 PM); Code Officer Alan Teeter; Town Clerk Mary Cornell. Call to Order: Dan Walker called the meeting to order at 7:07 PM Review of Minutes: Teeter moved and Hansteen seconded. VOTE: All Aye, carried. Interviews for Planning Board vacancies and recommendations to Town Board : Rich Teeter asked Rosie what her interests were in applying for an alternate position on the Planning Board. Carpenter stated that she is interested in what is being developed around town and with properties in the town. Dan motioned to recommend Rosanna “Rosie” Carpenter as an alternate member to the Planning Board for a 1- year term. Dan is assuming that the Town Board will appoint him as the Planning Board Chair. He would like the Town Board to additionally appoint a “Vice Chair”, he asked for a volunteer. Discussion of responsibilities took place. Dan motioned to appoint Mike Carpenter as the Vice Chair, all were in favor. Discussion of upcoming agenda items were limited to discussion of the large commercial buildings on Tucker Rd. One of the properties was purchased and Alan has had some discussions with the property owner on development. Training plan for 2026: Rich asked if a training could be provided at a Planning Board Meeting. Dan will download and have the “Basic Duties of a Planning Board Member” planned for the February Planning Board meeting. He will have the “SEQR” training available at the March Planning Board meeting. Trainings may be delayed if more pressing matters are agenda items. Dan would like to discuss the census changes in Enfield – We seem to have a population decrease. Mike asked if a long term goal would be keeping younger people in the town. Rich thinks that the goal should be to keep the population stable regardless of age for the population and for it to slowly increase. Dan “What draws people to Enfield”, is it affordable housing? Property in Enfield is not cheap. Mike – he just got his tax bills and what we need is a larger tax base. Rich would like to have more amenities and he would like to see a town park. Many ideas were floated. Clerk Cornell suggested that both Rich and Mike reach out to the Town Board and possibly join the park committee to make something happen.
