1853 Map of Enfield - published by Horace and Charles Smith and Robert Pearsall Smith of Philadelphia. Information on the map was based on the 1850 census.
Located in Enfield Center on the east side of the road a S. Loomis lived in a house there. I am not positive which house. But it was Enfield Center – on Enfield Main Road – I am guessing,
if you come to visit, it is one of the houses down from the church there are three there together but it is hard to designate from the map, maybe the people living there might know if
they researched their homes. (let me know if you can’t get 1853 and 1866 map from Dewitt and I will mail them to you or something.
The New York State Census 1825 for Tompkins County - lists pg 88 – Lommis, Samuel (This is the spelling they had in the book) – Hector 1825 – 4A (# males in family, including its head);
5B (number of females in family including its head); 1 D (male persons qualified to vote for state and county officers); 1J (married females under 45); 1K (unmarried females 16-45);
3L (unmarried females under 16).
No Loomis under Enfield and none other Ulysses.
There were some loomis family listed for the Grove Cemetery Town of Ulysses – you can find that on the Tompkins county web site I gave you.
I did not locate any other information, but as I said Dewitt would be a good place to stop.
