Many county wide events are being planned.. Please stop by the Enfield Town Clerk’s Office and pick up a copy of a list of Tompkins County history sources (web), libraries, museums, societies, and books. I will also have a few history books in the office for you to borrow (one book – 2 weeks borrowing time). Come learn about our county history! Mapping Tompkins. This is a project supported by the Tompkins County Bicentennial Commission – 2017. Participates are asked to illustrate a pre-printed map of Tompkins County, highlighting the places that are important in their lives. You can pick up copies of the map and instructions at the Enfield Town Hall or print your own from this file: mapping-tompkins-county. Don’t forget to share a copy of your map with the Enfield Town Historian to place in the Historians Collection. Names on the Land – Tompkins County – is the name for the update of “Place Names of Tompkins County” (2004) produced by Tompkins County Historian Carol Kammen and the Tompkins County Municipal Historians. http://www.tompkinscountyny.gov/historian/place-names Throughout 2017 we plan to publish our research on the “Names on Land – TC” website/blog https://tcnames.wordpress.com/We hope to engage residents in the project and encourage them to share their stories and photographs about Tompkins county places.andfacebook page https://www.facebook.com/tompkinscountynames/ For the Tompkins County Bicentennial, Historic Ithaca is proposing to offer a short “walk and talk” program on Saturdays during the spring and summer of 2017 that would highlight selected interesting sites in the county’s villages and towns. I have scheduled a tour of Enfield Center for July 29, 2017. If you would like to help let me know.  In January the Municipal Historians will begin a project similar to the “Women Belong In History Books – Herkimer and Oneida Counties New York 1700-1950”. This will be a project about women from Tompkins County who have made significant contributions and had historical significance. I will be collecting information on women in the Town of Enfield. If you would like to include someone you know in this project let me know. More details to come!
