July 31, 1839 Northumberland Co., PA m Susanna Balislellan 5)James Bennett b. 1781 PA d. 1854 Montoursville, Lycoming, PA , m.1809 Agnes Watson, dau. of John Watson, Sr. 6)Charles Bennett b. abt. 1783 PA Pension File #:S12175 Place of enlistment: Tinicum Township, Bucks Co., PA Service record: State of New York Tompkins County On this third day of October in the year of our Lord One Thousand eight hundred and thirty two personally appeared in Open Court before the Judge of the Court of Common Pleas in and for the county of Tompkins now sitting Benjamin Bennett a resident of Ulysses That he entered the service as a private, at Tinicum township, Bucks County in the state of Pennsylvania in a company commanded by Captain Thorn in Colonel Potters brigade but who commanded the Regiment he does not recollect. He entered about the first of August but the year he does not recollect- that he served in Captain Thorn’s company three months when he was discharged near Philadelphia and returned home-that he immediately again was drafted and entered Capt. Hunter’s company in the Brigade first mentioned but cannot recollect the commander of the regiment. He served in the last mentioned company three months and was again discharged at Feather Bed Hill, west of Philadelphia. He was next drafted the following spring-entered Captain Sharp’s company in General Potter’s Brigade. In his last service he served three months. That he was stationed at Bucks County and Chester County during the whole of his service. Occas ionally, however, moving from place to place ,the British having possession of Philadelphia. He was in the Battle of Brandywine and in the battle at Crooked Billet. Knew General Washington when he was with the corps in which he first served. He knew General Potter under whom he served the whole time he was in the service. During his second service General Washington was with the troops when he served much of the time he was out. He was born at South River in the State of New Jersey in the year 1754. He has no record of his age. He lived at Tinicum, Bucks County, Pennsylvania, when he entered the service, never received any written discharge. He hereby relinquishes any claim whatsoever to a pension or annuity, except the present, and declares his name is not on the pension roll of the agency of any state. his Benjamin X Bennett mark I, Abraham Bennett certify that I am the son of Benjamin Bennett described in the foregoing declaration -that I am now fifty-nine years old, that I have a distinct recollection of the absence of my father in the Revolution and it was said he was a soldier. I also recollect that during this time he was in service his second time he returned home and that I entertained great fear of my father because he was a “soldier”. From my recollection about his service I have no doubt he was in actual service none months. his Abraham X Bennett mark New York Pensioners, 1835 Benjamin Bennett, Private of Tompkins Co. received an annual allowance of $30.00 for his service in the New York militia.
