Now in Marines
OTIS C. DREW
Otis Carrington Drew, 18-year-old i
Ithaca High School graduate of the
Class of 1940, has enlisted in the
Marine Reserve Corps and left
Monday for training at the Marine
Base, Parris Island, S. C.
The son of Mr. and Mrs. Otis T.
Drew of Ithaca RD 5, Otis C. Drew
has been active in the rural life of
the county. He was a member of
the 4-H Council, the Future Farm-
ars of America, and active in young
people's religious work.
The Marine Corps recruit is a
neprew of the late Lieut. Frank E.
Carrington, whose name is on the
first World War honor roll of
Tompkins County. He gave his life '
ir behalf of his country on Oct. 23,
1918, and Groton American Legion-
naires named their organization
Carrington -Fuller Post. Another
uncle, Lynn O. Carrington, is now
serving his 23rd year in the Navy
as chief petty officer, and a third,
Leon I. Drew of Jacksonville,
served with the AEF in France in
1918.
