HomeMy WebLinkAboutMay 20, 2024 - Enfield Water Protection Committee MinutesEnfield Water Protection Committee Minutes May 20, 2024 Attending: Nancy Spero, Stephanie Redmond, Becky Sims, Julie Schroeder, Tom Joyce, Harry Stewart The Next Enfield Water Protection Committee Meeting is planned for Monday June 17 at 6:30 pm, via Zoom. Please mark your calendars. Our new contact at NYRWA is Jacob Gardner. Jacob has been with Rural Water for the last 5 years and has moved into the Source Water Protection Program. He will be able to support us through the very final stages of our plan’s review and (hopefully) approval by the state. Water Testing: Tom Joyce and Becky Sims plan to do water testing next week for our quarterly test. The Town board is continuing to look at revisions to the Site Plan regulations and the Planning Board is starting to review to Comprehensive Plan. A committee will be formed to start the process of revising the plan. Interested community members are encouraged to join the committee. There are many issues in the plan which could affect how our water is protected. Enfield community members are encouraged to help with this plan revision. Pamphlet: Tom Joyce worked with committee members (Peter, Harry, and Nancy) on the next draft of the pamphlet. We reviewed each revised panel at this meeting and made some more editing suggestions. Tom will work on these and bring it back to the next meeting as a possible final draft. Needs assessment survey related to potential municipal water: Becky worked on interactive maps using cumulative data from the 2021 water survey done by NYSRWA and NYS Health department, and other existing records from the USGS Aquifer Study. She showed us how the information about well yields and lot sizes can be overlayed on the maps and other available data can be added. We discussed the most densely populated areas at Hayts Road, Enfield Main Road and Route 79 as possible areas to target for the survey. Becky will work on overlaying the maps with other data to see if there are other variables to target for the survey. Becky will bring this information back to our next meeting.
