IN - SCHOOL INFORMATION
LEAVING THE BUILDING DURING THE SCHOOL DAY: Any student who leaves the building
during the school day must be signed out by a parent or guardian. If you are picking your child up early,
for any reason, you must first stop in the school office and sign your child out of school. This procedure
is for the safety of our children. Strangers do enter schools. We are responsible for your children until
they go home at the end of the day or are signed out of school by you. We take this responsibility very
seriously.
VISITORS TO THE SCHOOL: All visitors to the school must first stop in the school office before
going to the classrooms; this includes parents, work crews and adults helping with field trips. This is
a district -wide procedure enforced for the safety of our children. Parents, visitors, volunteers and student
teachers are all requested to wear an identification badge during their time in school. This procedure
helps us identify visitors to the school.
ANNOUNCEMENTS SENT HOME: Enfield school sends home announcements only one day per
week. Wednesday is ANNOUNCEMENT DAY. The purpose is to improve communication between
home and school. Each child will have a large envelope with his/her name on it that will be used to send
information home. Please make sure that your child/children returns the envelope to school the next day.
We will appreciate your help with this system. Announcements may be sent home on other days only
if necessary.
SCHOOL WIDE PRINCIPLES: The following are the principles that guide our approach to
management and discipline at Enfield. These were developed with the participation of the entire staff.
• Teachers use these as a guide to develop their classroom rules. Every classroom teacher has his/her rules
which he/she will discuss with you at Open House/Curriculum Night, or send home with Class
Expectation forms.
1. WE RESPECT ALL CHILDREN AND ADULTS.
2. WE TAKE PRIDE IN OURSELVES.
3. WE TAKE PRIDE IN OUR SCHOOL.
4. WE RESPECT EVERYONE'S PROPERTY.
swParents will be contacted immediately in case of severe misbehavior. This includes unsafe behavior that
causes injury to another child, property damage, insubordination and fighting.
Please note that hats are not to be worn in school during school hours. Also, the chewing of gum,
because of custodial (clean up) problems is not allowed.
ATTENDANCE: If your child will be absent on a school day, please phone the school office by 9:30
a.m. If you do not call the morning of an absence, the school secretary will attempt to reach you by
phone before the end of the day. When your child is absent, please send in a dated, written excuse (for
legal records) on the day your child returns to school, even if you have called the school to report
him/her absent. If a child is tardy (late), he/she should report to the office before going to the classroom.

AFTER SCHOOL INFORMATION
• ENFIELD AFTER SCHOOL DAY CARE PHONE NUMBERS: The Enfield After School Day Care
Program is coordinated through the Enfield Community Council. The Program Coordinator of the After
School Day Care Program is Linda Hubbell. She can be reached at her home phone at 272-5034, before
1:45 p.m. After 1:45 p.m. you can reach her on her mobile school phone at 274-2109.
EMERGENCY AFTER SCHOOL DAY CARE: Linda Hubbell has generously agreed to provide
emergency after school day care on a temporary basis to any Enfield Elementary student. If you can not
be home when your children come home from school, you can call Linda Hubbell at the above numbers
and request that your child/children be kept in the Enfield After School Day Care program, which runs
until 5:30 p.m. However, this is not a free service. You will be charged $2.00 per hour per child.
PARENT LIAISON
PARENT LIAISON: Mary Cole is the new Parent Liaison for the Enfield School. She will act as a
link between parents and the school on any school -related matter. Her goal is to promote harmony
between staff and parents. If you need a source of information other than your child's teacher or the
principal, you can call her at the Enfield School number: 274-2221.
• Other services Mrs. Cole provides as Parent Liaison include producing the school newsletter,
organizing after school workshops, and running "Family Night" at the school library.
PARENT -TEACHER ASSOCIATION (PTA)
MISSION STATEMENT: Recognizing that every child deserves excellence in education and a quality
life, the New York State Parent Teacher Association's obligation is to maintain its commitment and "
service to all children and its diverse membership through increased parent awareness, advocacy,
education and involvement.
--Adopted by New York State PTA Board of Managers, August 10, 1990
The Enfield School PTA invites you to join our organization and to attend the monthly meetings.
Attendance at monthly meetings is not required, but is encouraged. Anyone who cares about children -
parents, teachers, grandparents, or any other member of the community, can join the PTA. Many
exciting changes are occurring (e.g. Compact for Learning, site -based management) and we are
encouraging more parent and community input into these issues. Your ideas and participation are
important and welcomed. Please join with us in helping to plan for the future of education in our
community.
The PTA helps support school -wide activities such as field trips, and visiting artists and authors.
It supplements and purchases playground equipment, and supplemental literature (Weekly Readers and
0 classroom magazines) and helps meet the costs of supplemental programs at the school.

*Child care is provided at no charge. We do ask that you call the school office (274-2221) and give the
school secretary the number of children that you will be bringing to the meeting. This gives us an idea
of how many care providers we will need for each meeting. This is not mandatory; do not stay away
from the meeting because you were too busy to call ahead.
