The three-corner-ed United States Senatorial election was an interest- ing one.Senator James W.Wads-wor-th, jr.,ed Repub'.htW,car- ried the county by a plurality of 2,798overtheDemocraticcandidate,HarryC.Walker,and by a plurality of 3,-7-60 over his Prohibition contestant, Mrs.Ella A.Boole.The total countyvotewas:Wadsworth,6,307;Walker, 3,509;Mrs.:Boole.2,547.Due to the sizeable vote for Mrs.Boole and the fact also that she opposed two candi- dates,Senator Wadsworth ran be- hind his ticket In the county.Walk- er gave Wadsworth a strong run In the city.Senator Wadsworth receiv- ed a city vote of 2,944,while Walker recived 2,071.and Mrs.Boole 918. Senator Wadsworth,therefore,car- ried the city by 873 over Walker and by 2.026 over Mrs.Boole. Mrs.Boole showed the greatest strength in her city vote in the fourthdistrictoftheFourthWard,where she received 101 votes,and in the first district of the Fifth Ward, where 85 votes were recorded for her. Senator Warren G.Harding,Re- publican president-elec-t,carried the county by a plurality of 6,026 over Ms Democratic opponent,Governor Cox.Senator Harding received a total of 9,467 votes in the county, while Governor Cox trailed far be- hind with 3,441.The summary shows that Senator Harding easily led the Republican ticket In the elect- ion returns. Judge Nathan L.Miller,Republic- an candidate for governor,whose election Is predicted,carried Tomp- kins County by a plurality of 4,753 over Governor Alfred E.Smith. Judge Miller received a total of 8,898 votes and Governor Smith 4,145. Judge Miller carried the City of Ith- aca by 1,281 votes.The city gave Judge Miller 3,765 and Governor Smith 2,484.Returns from the rural districts swelled Judge Miller's plu- rality. George R.Fitts Makes a Good Run. George R.Fitts of McLean,Demo- cratic candidate for lieutenant gov- ernor,made the best run In Tomp-lci-ns County of any member of his party.Mr.Fitts was defeated by Jsreniiaa Wood,his Republican op- ponent,by only 2.652 votes,while Jndite Miller defeated Governor Smith for by 4,753 votes. Mr.Fitts'vote in this county was 4,992,while 7,654 ballots were cast for Mr.Wood.Tompkins gave Gov- ernor Smith 4.145 and Judge Miller 8,898.Thus it will be seen Mr.Fitts polled 847 more votes in this county than did Governor Smith. Harding Leads City by 2,160. Senator Harding carried the City of Ithaca by a plurality of 2,160 votes.In the city Senator Harding received 4.094 votes and Cox 1,924. Senator Harding carried every one of the 53 districts in the city and county. Wcard carried only his home dist- rict the third of the First Ward The regular meeting of thes Board of Education was held at the office of the board last evening.The report of the public schools for the month ending October 29,showed a registra- tion of 2,871,an increase of 61 over fie number of pupils registered at the corresponding date last year. This increase has made necessary the appointment of an additional teacher and the provision of another room. The increase is largely in the Central School,particularly with reference to the Central Primary school. T-i-e State Syllabus of 91 pages re- lating to civics and patriotism as re- quired by the Legislature of 1919 was discussed.The law provides that this course shall be added to the present program and instruction in the same given to all children more than eight years of age. Alva J.Sperry,a well known Lan- sing farmer,died suddenly yesterdayfromheartdisease.He drove to from his home,about a mile west of the village,to vote.
