COON CORTLAND - Berta L. Coon. 92. of 28 Kellogg Rd.. Cortland. formerly of West Dryden Rd., Freeville, died Monday. Ju- ly 7, 2003 at Cortland Memorial Hospital. Born November 2, 1910 in the Town of Enfield, she Was the daughter of the late Robert and Martha Murray Updike. A lifelong resident of Tompkins County, she lived in Enfield, Trumansburg and Ithaca prior to moving to Freeville in 1970. She loved children, animals. especially cats, bird watch- ing, shopping and travel- ing. In 1954 she married Frederick Coon, who pre- deceased her February 18. 2003, Mrs- Coon is survived by her daughter, Bette L. Mead of Freeville: son and wife. Robert W. and Betty Williams of Groton: step- son and wife. Donald H.
