Millers I stopped at Jay's & he said "What'd you come
here for? I told him. He said "I've hired a widow
with seven children." I said probably she needs it.
Then he said he'd seen Donnan & he seemed to be
in favor of me. Said he guessed they'd have to have
me teach whether they wanted to or not
He's going to make the cotract for $25 & then I pay
back $3.00 a week.

N. (Holley) Rumsey, be-
loved mother, sister,
grandmother and friend,
passed away on August
24, 2009 at Hospice of
Ithaca surrounded by her
loving family.
Surviving Margaret are
four sons, Russell (Elise),
Jack, Denis (DeeAnne),
and Bruce (Joey)
Rumsey; five daughters,
V Phylis Brooks, Susan
(Lawrence) Carlisle, Judy
Neiss, Loreta (Linda
a Ebert), and Marlene
Crockford; 26 grandchil-
dren, 32 great-
grandchildren, two great -
great granddaughters; one
a brother, Robert (Linda)
J Holley; one sister, Helena
(Bill) Goodwin; several
sisters- and brothers -in -
it law, and many nieces and
e nephews.
Born in Enfield on
� April 23, 1916, Margaret
j was the daughter of the
late Howard and Minnie
(Whitaker) Holley. A
homemaker and farmer's
wife for many years,
t Margaret was a
t mom/grandmother to
many more than the IO
children she gave birth
to. She had a heart big
enough to nurture and
help raise her nine
younger brothers and sis-
ters, the neighbor chil-
dren who were always at t
her home, and almost ev-
ervone she encountered.
No one stayed a stranger
Idng after theeting Mar-
garet. Countless people
stopped at the Rumsey
farm over the years to sit
a spell in the kitchen or to
catch a breeze on the
front porch, to sample
one of her homemade
cookies, and to bask in
one of Margaret's smiles.
She loved gardening,
reading, cooking, sewing,
and writing personal
cards and letters.
Margaret will be wel-
comed home by those
who have passed before
her, including her hus-
band, Jared Rumsey; her
son, Maynard; sons-in-
law, Richard Brooks and
Robert Crockford;
granddaughters, Debbie
Baker and Debbie '
Rumsey; brothers, Ray-
mond, Francis, Harland ;
and Richard Holley; sis-
ters, Mildred Rumsey,
Marian Lovelace, and
Doris Oakley; and sever-
al brothers- and sisters-
in-law.
The family wilLbe pres-

from 6-8 p.m. on Thurs-
day, August 27, at the
Ness -Sibley Funeral
Home, 23 South St.,

MECKLENBURG - Richard G. Holley of
2220 Mecklenburg.Road, Ithaca, passed awn
unexpectedly at his home on May 15, 2009 s
the age of 76.
Born in Enfield, New York on April 30, 1931.
Richard was the ton of the late Howard and
Minnie (Whitaker) Holley. He graduated froi
Ithica High School in 195 L Following
graduation. Richard went to work for
Marathon Metal and Ames Welding Compaa
in Ithaca before joining the Plumbers and Pil
Fitters Local 267 in Syracuse where he _
worked for 50 years before retiring.
Richard was very active in his community
where he served as an Enfield Volunteer
Fireman and EMT for 26 years. He also was
member of the Enfield Town Board and
served on the task force for the Ithaca Beard
of Education. In Richardfs leisure time, he
enjoyed gardening, woodworking, welding, daricing, and hunting. Richard loved his family
and friends unconditionally and will be deeply missed. -
Richard was preceded in death by his wife of 46 years, Marilyn Neilson Holley. He is
survived by his four daughters, Debi (Rick) Sumner of Enfield, Patricia (Carmen) Calabrese
of Geneva, Betty Lou (Andy) van Tieaboven of Mattydale, and Chris (Les) Crawford of
Newfield; seven grandchildren, Tonic Lynn and Amanda Secor, Reiman, Kyle; and Cameron
van Tlenhoven.PFC Roy Crawford and youngest granddaughter Mariah. HcJs also survived
by one brother, Robert H. (Linda Wyllie) Holley of Enfield; two sisters, Helena (William)
Goodwin of Ithaca, and Margaret Rumsey of Newfield; one brother-in-law, Claim(Peg)
Neilson of Norristown, PA, three sister -in-laws, Peg Holley of Ovid, Katherine Neilson of
Latham, and Betty Neilson of Marathon; and many neices and aephcws along with their
extended forties and countless friends.
Richard was also predeceased by three brothers. Raymond, Francis and Harland Holley;
three sisters, Mildred Rumsey, Marian Lovelace, and Doris Oakley; brother -in-laws, Jued
and Orvil Rumsey, Carl Lovelace. Francis Oakley. Donald and Roger Neilson, and John
Zupancic Jr.; sister -in-laws Virginia Holley and Elenor Zupancic; nice Anita Oakley and
nepliew John Zupancic 111.
The family will be present to receive friends from 2.4 pm and 6-8 pm on Thursday May 21
at the Neu -Sibley Funeral Home, 23 South St.. Trumansburg. Funeral Services will begin at
1:00 pm on Friday, May 22 at the Trumansburg United Methodist Church with the Reverend
Nelson.Reppert officiating. Prayers of committal will follow at Enfield Christian Cemetery.

Webster, of Leesburg. Vir-
ginia, passed away unex-
pectedly on Tuesday. Feb-
ruary 20. 2007, at the
Winchester Medical Cen-
ter in Winchester, Virgin-
ia, at the age of 71. She
was born on August 30.
1935, in Spencer, New
York. She was the daugh-
ter of the late Ervin J.
Hunsinger and Mildred
Emery Stark.
Phyllis grew up in
Enfield, New York, and
was a longtime resident
of Ithaca. New York. Prior
to the birth of her chil-
dren, she worked as a
nurse's aid at Tompkins
County Hospital. After
her children were born.
she stayed at home until
they were in school. She
then worked many years
at NCR. She moved to
Winchester, -Virginia after
she retired from NCR in
the late 1980s. In
Winchester, she worked
as a private duty nurse's
aid in Middleburg, Virgin-
ia. She retired in 2000.
Phyllis had many inter-
ests but her greatest joy
was spending time with
her grandchildren and.
most recently, her great-
grandson. She especially
enjoyed American Histo-
ry, reading, watching
Western movies, playing
cards. word puzzles and
board games, gardening
and traveling. She espe-
cially loved her animals
including her horses,
Sugar and Shiloh, her
dog. Misty, and her cat.
Smoke.
Her three children sur-
vive her from her former
marriage to Richard
Sullivan. Mark and his
wife, Mary Sullivan of
Athol, New York,
Kathleen and her hus-
band, Michael Casey .01
Leesburg. Virginia, and
John and his wife,
Kathleen Sullivan of
Cheverly, Maryland. Her
four grandchildren also
survive her. Emily and
her husband, David Ush-
er of San Antonio, Texas.
Adam Hernandez of
Leesburg, Virginia, and
Jan and Mark Sullivan of
Cheverly, Maryland. She
is also survived by her
great-grandson. Dylan
Usher of San Antonio,
Texas: her sister. Beverly
Graham of Las Vegas. Ne-
vada; and her sister-in-
law and friend. Shirley
Sullivan of Lansing, New
York. In addition to her
parents, she was prede-
ceased by an infant
daughter, Karen Sullivan:
and her brother, Robert
Hunsinger.
Phyllis will be greatly
missed by her family and
friends. The family re-
quests that in lieu of
flowers, donations be
made in Phyllis' memory
to your local animal shel-
ter. Phyllis loved the
ocean and, at her re-
quest, her ashes will be
spread in the ocean off of
Cape Hatteras. North
Carolina in June. The
family is holding a private
funeral service. Arrange-
