Henry was brother of Maranda Hausner (1830 – 1911) husband George Johnson (1813-1882) mother of Charles Johnson (1874-1925) Charles married to Harriet King (1887-1978) parents of Maranda Louise Johnson Cornish (1922-1984). Scrapbook Lye Soap handwritten receipe – Hard Soap by Harriet Cornish (good hard soap) – 1 can lycons lye, ½ to ¾ package of 20 mile team borax dissolved in the lye water. 4 lbs melted grease no more than 4 lbs as the soap will be no good when 5 ½ lbs of grease are used. Smith Valley – poem cut out from newspaper. No date. This might be Harriet King Johnson’s handwriting Chas. Wife. Note looks like accounts were being straighten up and paid, notes dating 1917, 1918, 1920. January 1918 handwriting changed back. Reference to Dady King brought for me of Alice King potatoes. (Harriet King Johnson father and Alice King was Harriets sister). January 1918 accounts, farm work, diary of events, handwritting goes back and forth neat to large and bold. April 1918 – Dickie cow had heffer calf in the woods Sunday June 2, 1918 pa (Charles Johnson) and Maranda (Johnson) drove them to the arn with the other cows. (large bold handwriting). 1918 paid for The Kansas City Weekly Journal and the Missouri and Kansas Farmer for one year. 1919 – 1920 1920 Will Rolison building us a kitchen chimmey. Father had Swicks horse to go to Ithaca to see the Osteopath. Molly cow had a bull calf down in pine grove. 1921 – 1932 notes but not as detailed as previous years. Talk of geese, chickens, cows.After 1925 Maranda and Harriet did chores, etc together. 1925 – Charles D. Johnson died May 4, at eleven fifteen o’clock at night 1925 born July 31, 1873. 1932 Mother King died. 1932 Novemer 22 Reginald towed Leslie smith twice $5.00 each $10.00 1934 – April – handwritting has changed. Detailed accounting, paid Phillips grocery, paid Miller groceries, Shoes for Robert (Robert Eugene Cornish 1935 – 2001). Louised worked for different people. Louise is Maranda Louise Johnson Cornish. 1935 – paid Newman blacksmith (Enfield Center), cow record 1936 July handwriting changed ack to Harriet’s (big and bold). 1937 January Harriet’s handwriting detailed accounting 1937 Dand and I worked on the new hog house all day. Louise washed and helped some the children carried old pieces of boards and carpenter tools to the house tonight. Dr. at noon in the Bailey Jones Hospital of Heart trouble and a growth in the stomach.Burton and Herbert Curry our welfare man took Dana to the Bailey Jones Hospital at 8:30 o’clock Tuesday night November 15, 1938. Dana Hiram Cornish was born August 24, 1882 died November 23, 1938. Dana was father to Reginald Cornish, Maranda Louise Johnson Cornish husband. 1938 – farm notes 2 pages 1940 – farm notes 1 page 1942 – farm notes 1 page 1942 – farm notes 1 page unusually hot. 1947 – farm notes 2 page – January 29, 1947 The rolison school house burned toght while we were eating supper at 6 o’clock. John Agard built our barn. Notes from George Johnson Diary 1864 - Diary notes – helping Will Rollision mowing, thrashing, drawing lumber, drawing stone, September - November 1892 – W. Rollison working by the Mo. $19.50 days on barn. Paid George Dart work on barn. John Agard work on Barn. Statement letter found in Cornish Home – Charlie D. Johnson would be 98 years old July 31, 1972. Rest of Louise older. Charlie D. Johnson 6 years old when moved here. Jake Hausner moved out more than 92 years ago.
