Oddlncident
Is Reported
By CCC Men
An unverifled report of a
woman who gave birth to an in-
fant while being rescued from
her wept. side home, during last
night's dipaster wav made today
by Civilian Conservation Cnrps
men who turned out 216 strong
as a rescue squadron.
The rescuers were unable to
give the wornan's name, and no
such case was admitted to any
Ithaca hospital.
The CCC men, who worked
throughout the downtown "flats"
on assignment from police, also
declared they reacued a city fire.

Water Supply
Not Affected
By Downpour
The water supply of the city was
reported today as completely satia-
fac`.ory despite the flood.
No particular damage was re-
ported. The water was stated to
be sanitary and wholesome. A
New York State health inspector
happened to be in the city, and
after careful checking with local
officials, he reported everything
satisfactory. Only four of the six
city filters are working now and
they are doing a good job.
At 12:30 p. m. the water behind

penter, Ithaca 'Cater Department
superintendent, was out all night
with a gang of workers, and they
reported great damage, but not in
Ithaca proper.

Trumansburg road just up the hill,
from the city was gashed out. A
little farther out two mains were
cracked open. The water to the
Tuberculosis Sanatorium and the
Odd Fellows Home was shut off.
A water main on North Sunset
Drive, west of Cayuga Heights
Road, cracked and i%as spouting
water some 40 feet in the air. A
culvert on Overlook Road north of
Wyckoff washed out 25 feet of road
and affected the water supply
there. The mains were shut off.
