from Enfield firemen
The weekend of March 28-29 was
special for the firemen of the Town
of Enfield. By special proclamation
of the town board, it was Volunteer
Firemen's Recognition Weekend,
in recognition of 39 years of service
by the fire company.
The entire community was in-
vited to an open house and craft
fair at the fire station on Saturday,
an appreciation dance and recogni-
tion ceremony that night, and a
special recognition service at the
First Baptist Church on Sunday.
Regretfully, our firefighters were
unable to attend that service, as we
were called via mutual aid to assist
firefighters in Mecklenburg shortly
before the service was to begin.
This was the first time such a re-
coginition weekend has been held
to honor our fire company, and it
was greatly appreciated. Much time
and effort is put into this organiza-
tion by many people to provide the
community of Enfield with its serv-
ices, and as in any volunteer orga-
nization, just a simple "thank
you" can mean a lot.
The fire company would like to
thank the organizers, the Enfield
Community Council and the Wom-
en's Auxiliary, Town Supervisor
Etta Grey for the fine words and
plaque she presented our president,
the town board, all of the retail es.
tablishments that donated items t0
make it all possible, and all those
who donated their time and energy
to make it happen.
The Enfield Volunteer Fire Co.
wishes to "thankyou" for the
"thank you"!
