region. Friday, Dresser, accompanied
by Kirchgessner family, held a news
conference announcing a reward fund.
At the time, Kirchgessner's widow,
Marnie, asked the public's help in
locating that driver.
Mamie Kirchgessner said Wednes-
day night she was happy to learn the
news conference possibly made the
difference.
"I think we were greatly relieved,'
she said of the arrest.
The news came to the Kirchgessner
home Wednesday afternoon where,
since that Friday news conference, the
family has experienced a "whole
rollercoaster kind of feeling" as it sift-
ed through a wave of emotions, she
said.
One of the many questions
Kirchgessner found herself asking was
why it took so long to locate the per -

Kirchgessner considered the con-
clusion of the sheriffs investigation
the closing of one chapter and the
opening of another. However, she
remained tentative about the outcome
until the case emerges from the crimi-
nal justice system. An understanding
of that system through her husband
taught her that a person is always
innocent until proved guilty.
While thanking media for their help
in publicizing her husband's case,
Kirchgessner said, "Now we'll just
have to continue to find out exactly
what the evidence is, what police
know and the process can now in fact
move forward." J
