Achievement of Excellence Award
George passed away on August 4,1998 at home at the age of 53 from a heart attack. His
presence will be forever missed. George was a Life Member of the Enfield Volunteer Fire
Company Inc. and was a very important part of the success of the company. George
served the company as a line officer, Board of Director, and on many committees, all
while operating his own building supply business. His standard was to work hard, play
hard and expect nothing in return. This unselfish attitude is the basis for the George A
Palmer Achievement of Excellence Award. It is not the intent to award this to someone
annually, but to award it when someone meets George's standard. This award is a very
