Stevenson SUBJ: Tompkins County "Celebrations" Funding DATE: July 1, 1997 Dear Mr. Supervisor, 172 Enfield Main Rd. Ithaca, New York 14850 (607)272.8757 I am in receipt of the letter addressed to you, from Mr. Karl Heck, Community/Economic Developments Specialist with the Tompkins County Planning Department, regarding Tompkins County funding for local celebrations. As you are probably already aware, the Enfield Volunteer Fire Company (EVFC) will be celebrating it's 50th anniversary in 1998. The Anniversary committee has several events to mark this occasion in the planning stages at the present time. Among these will be an open house/public celebration and ceremony to commemorate the founding of the EVFC. Another would be an anniversary firefighters parade, and a fireworks display, integrated into the firefighters field days event. Further event scheduling is being discussed presently, and will be finalized later this year. According to the categories and parameters described by the County Planning Department document, this Fire Company celebration meets all the requirements, i.e., a) Social Not for Profit b) Municipal or Public Sponsor (Fireman's Day's), and c) Historical Importance. I would formally request that the Town of Enfield request a share of these "celebrations" 4J.1i funds on behalf of the Enfield Volunteer Fire Company for the Enfield Volunteer Fire Company 50th Anniversary Celebration in 1998. Should you require more information regarding the proposed events, e$6 do n hesitate to contact myself or President Barriere.
