The Enfield Fire Company is promoting a program developed by the
Firemen's Association of the State of New York known as "FILE OF
LIFE". The program is designed to assist rescue personnel obtain
critical medical history information on a patient in the event the
patient may be unable to verbally give the information and there is no
other person on the scene of an emergency to assist in giving the
information that may be helpful in treating the patient.
The "FILE OF LIFE" consists of a three part 3x5 card in a plastic
holder that is magnetized and can be placed on a refrigerator door or
other predominate place where it would be obvious to rescue
personnel. Upon receipt of the "FILE OF LIFE" packet persons are
asked to fill out the card with their name, age,doctors name and
number, other emergency contacts name and numbers and answer
some questions regarding their medical history. Ca te- o?«• P-,Af)
Should rescue personnel respond to medical emergency and have no
one available to give them information on the patients history it would
be available to them in the "FILE OF LIFE" packet!
"FILE OF LIFE" packets are beings distributed free of charge to all
Enfield Senior Citizens members. The fire company has extra packets
available for other seniors that may not be members of the `senior
citizens' group or persons with special needs that may not always
have someone with them to explain their medical history should it be
required in an emergency.
To obtain a "FILE OF LIFE" packet contact any Enfield fireman with
your name address and telephone number.
For persons outside the town of Enfield packets are available for a
nominal fee of $2.00!
