On Sunday May 17th 1998 the Enfield Volunteer Fire Company will hold an
open house at the Enfield fire station from 1-4 PM. This open house is special to us
because it commemorates our 50th anniversary.
At 2pm there will be a ceremony honoring all members of the fire company, past
and present. During this ceremony a memorial garden will be dedicated in memory of
all deceased members who had served the community as members of the fire
company and Harry Willis who donated the land upon which the first fire station was
erected. Also our rescue vehicle "Enfield 642" will officially be dedicated in memory of
Gregory Kirchgessner who was killed by a hit-and-run driver in February of this year.
There will be tours of our new (although not completed) addition, free
refreshments, blood pressure screening and weather permitting fire truck rides for the
children.
We invite each of you and your families to join us in celebrating our 50 years of
service to the Town of Enfield and surrounding communities. Should anyone from your
department wish to speak at our 2PM ceremony or send any comments to be read at
the ceremony, please contact me at the address and phone number listed below so
they may be placed on the meeting agenda.
Please plan to attend and help us celebrate!
With best regards
