Stream Buffer Protection Potential in Enfield: Scott Doyle from the Tompkins County Planning Department attended the meeting to talk about stream bank buffers. County Planning has a model ordinance for municipalities to use if they are interested. There will also be training offered on this topic. County planning is looking at creeks leading into State Parks, one of which is Enfield Creek. The goal is to help improve water quality, such as in the swimming area at Lower Treman Park. They have already spoken with some landowners, who have seemed receptive. Board questions and comments included:  Protecting water quality is a positive goal, but we’ve noticed the County Highway Department digging very deep ditches, which is apparently according to NYS regulations, which is increasing erosion, run off and sediment load into streams.  Is there a/what is the relationship between these County projects and similar work done by the Tompkins County Soil and Water conservation District? There is no cooperation at this point, but they will likely be talking.  Where are the funds coming from? DEC water improvement project funds  What types of projects are anticipated: cost effective, such as tree and shrub planting  Where are the problems that have been identified how serious are they? Not huge engineered projects, much smaller in scope, most likely will work with landscapers 2. Site Plan Review Document: This document needs to have the amendments incorporated. We don’t necessarily need to retype the entire document, looks like just the first 4 pages. There is a typo that also needs correcting, and add a clarification. Meeting adjourned, 8:30 p.m.
