Myrtle the Mallard- trained by chief George May -has a dismal record on a wet
track ---However chief May tells me he has been working his prize ducky dilligently in
the bathtub for the past two months and expects to place high in the top finishers......
Asst. chief Larry Stillwell is owner?trainer of "Ducky Dooley" #726 and he
assures us that the heavy winter snow pack & heavy rains earlier this month create
perfect conditions for his entry ...... Ducky" has been slimmed down for this race and is
in prime condition -SHE is also a local favorite....
"Blue Bill Belle" is a Cayuga lake bred duck and co/owned by Judy and Rick
Neno--- Judy is the trainer and Rich cleans the water stable where they board her...
This duck is known for exceptionally fast starts, and if Blue -Bill Bele" can get into the
lead early she will be a hard duck to catch....
"fultons Folly" #333 is a real DARK DUCK in this derby, being one of only half a
dozen red -head ducks entered»» He is considered a long shot(no pun intended)
But in his last start at AQUA -DUCK RACEWAY he took second ---loosing by only half -a -
beak. Owned by Dom nick Seamon -past president of the enfield fire company, and
trained by Denny Hubbell former Enfield chief ---He is deffinetly a DUCK TO
WATCH11111
"Break -A -Beak" is number 727,th! California bred duck shipped across
country just for this race ---owned by awy'Jer,this duck has a scor to settle with
number 126 A Green winged teal by the name of SPLISH-SPLASHY the last time
thest two met it was a DEEP -WET TRACK and at the last moment SPLISH SPLASH
came from behind and passed 'BREAK -A -BEAK' on the underside ... THATS; RIGHT1
on the UNDERSIDEI he dove under water and running on the bottom(which is
completly legal in duck racing as long as the duck doesnt leave the water and go up
on shore) Splish SPLASH ran on the bottom and surfaced just in fornt of BREAK A
BEAK just before the fisish line and won by a feather... The owner of BRAEAK -A-BEAK
filed a protest but it was denied by track officals and the results stood ----this will
deffinatly be a match to watch closley.....
By far the fastest duck on this track will be QUACKER JAKE' # 942 this duck
holds the fastest time on this track set durring the flood back in 68 ... However,
QUACKER JAKE' does his best in a mild ripple --and a large wake has been known to
make him break stride .... In a field of 1000 ducks like we have here today 'QUAKER
JAKE' will have to get to the outside and stay there in retivly quiet water if he expects to
have a chance.....
It should be noted that none of these ducks have ever done well on a DRY
TRACK -or even a Muddy one -all are at their best on a wet,VERY-WET track.
THE WETTER -THE -BETTER they say in duck racing!!!!!
