There was discussion on events from the 1996 Commemorative celebration. Sue Thompson reported she has the copies of the original recipes from the Commemorative Cookbook in the historian
collection. Maybe a project would be to place the recipes in a book to show the handwriting, etc. and write a little about the person. There are still some printed copies of the Cookbook
and a pdf copy can be found on the Enfield Town website.
Ann Rider reported she talked to Tony Ingraham and he agreed to put together 2 or 3 talks regarding Enfield for 2021. Tony Ingraham also said he would talk with the Friends of Robert
H. Treman State Park. Ellie Hobbie thought maybe Sherene Baughermight be interested in presenting an archaeological event. TheCivilian Conservation Corpsin the park area would be another
good topic for a presentation.
Ann Rider reported that her cousin Bob Wixom offered to help with any research regarding the Bicentennial. He is a dedicated family genealogist. It was suggested that maybe he could
contact Barb Sadovnic to help with her project of residents born in Enfield in 1821. Ann Rider said she would share his e-mail regarding more of his family information.
Sue Thompson suggested that the next meeting be on Zoom.
Other miscellaneous topics shared:The Living Water Baptist Church Fellowship is no longer using the Church Facility at 164 Enfield Main Road as of January 2020. (Correct this if the
date is wrong).Sue Thompson reported working on the “Enfield government officials list”. She shared some of these interesting “tidbits” found in the town minutes:
1941 bill - working grass fire at Woodward school be allowed $2.00 (Enfield Fire Company 1948 Inc.) The Mecklenburg Fire Company (Inc. 1946) was contracted with the town to cover fires
before Enfield Fire Co. Inc. The town also contracted insurance to cover the individuals who fought fires in Enfield before Mecklenburg and Enfield Fire Companies were involved.
1925 a person in Enfield died from Diphtheria. The Town Board made a resolution to quarantine the family in their home and only the family was allowed to the burial in the Christian
Cemetery.
Before 1918 Stone House Road was called Hobby Road. Information from 1918 Deed. This is from research being conducted on the Stone House in Enfield.
