HomeMy WebLinkAbout200th anniversary minutes 2020 jan 16 (1)Town of Enfield Bicentennial – 200 Years Committee March 16, 1821 – March 16, 2021 January 16, 2020 Enfield Community Building Present: Ann Rider and Sue Thompson It was decided to move the meeting date to the 2nd Tuesday of the month at the Historian's Office in the Enfield Community Building. There are several other organizations in Town that have meetings on Thursdays. There was discussion regarding the paperback book entitled “The Town of Enfield New York Christian Hill to Enfield Falls” by members of the Enfield Historical Society and Sue Thompson, Enfield Town Historian. It was compiled and published in 2002 for the 175th Anniversary of the Town of Enfield. It was discussed that an addendum could be compiled and published updating time line and government official listings for next year's celebration. Sue Thompson said she would do the update. Ann Rider will find out about re-printing the updated book. The book is currently on the Town of Enfield website in pdf format. An estimated 25 copies could be printed. Ideas for celebration from community members: Ann Rider stated she talked to teachers at Enfield Elementary School and was not sure of their involvement at this point. T-shirts Next year's Country Faire and Harvest Festival will have an 1821 theme of heritage crafts and old time games Read the original declaration from the ceremony on March 16, 2021 in a ceremony to be held at the Enfield Elementary School with punch and cookies afterwards. A beard and mustache contest Histories: Connecticut Hill History Other histories of organizations could be updated and shared – Enfield Schools and Grange. Sue Thompson will get a copy of the Grange history update to the grange.
