Dear Enfield Town Board,
I just want to clarify a couple of the statements I made at the Public Hearing regarding the
Elected vs Appointed Positions in the Town of Enfield.
I made a statement in reference to an Unlocked Door at the Town Hall. To clarify that statement
what I meant to say or get across to the Public and the Town Board was the door would not lock
properly, it was broken and had been for some time.
The Supervisor was made aware of this and failed to acknowledge its importance or authorize
repairs in a timely way. The issue was the Door was the case from day one of the Town Clerk
taking her Oath of Office. Not only was there potential for the theft of large sums of money due
to the tax collection season but the safety of the Town Clerk herself was also compromised by
those who would not listen to her reports or respect her assessment. It was a very scary
situation.
Secondly my statement as to the Town Clerk working till 5 a.m. in the morning was not implying
her mismanagement of time. I was making a point that because of the workload and her
dedication to complete that workload she felt obligated to stay up not only that night but many
nights since taking office.
What was described to her as being a 20 hour a week job is a huge fantasy. I have personally
seen the greater than full time hours the Town Clerk puts in weekly.
My point with the Town Clerk was for the Board to quit bullying her and trying to give her an
excessive workload.
The Town Clerk also serves the Volunteer Fire Company and is vital to our organization.
Don't think for one minute that, as President of the Enfield Fire Company, I will remain silent if
any attempt is made to personally attack Ellen Woods or ANY member of the Enfield Fire
Company.
Sincerely,
Dennis Hubbell
