Town of Enfield
Audit Meeting Minutes
Enfield Town Hall
Thursday, January 17, 2013
5:00 p.m.
Present: Town Supervisor Ann Rider, Town Councilperson Chris Hern, Town Councilperson Vera
Howe-Strait, Town Clerk Alice Linton, Town Bookkeeper Mary Cornell, Town Justice Betty Poole.
Absent: Town Councilperson Debbie Teeter.
Supervisor Rider opened the meeting at 5:15 p.m. by leading the assemblage in the Pledge of
Allegiance to the Flag.
Town Bookkeeper Mary Cornell's 2012 books were presented for audit. She explained there are 15
accounts she uses. There is a slight discrepancy in her balances that she believes goes back to the
January starting balance. She is working with Williamson Law, the town's computer software
company, to find this problem. Mary is looking into having her reports available in a PDF format so
they can be e-mailed to board members and save on paper.
Councilperson Hern asked why the H Fund was being depleted to make bond payments instead of
using the funds to finish the driveway at the new highway facility. Supervisor Rider will look into
this.
At this time Town Bookkeeper Mary Cornell left the meeting.
Town Justice Betty Poole’s and Town Justice James Varricchio’s 2012 books were presented for
audit. Justice Poole explained she has taken over the accounts and case load of Town Justice James
Varricchio since his death in December, 2012.
Town Clerk Alice Linton’s 2012 books were presented for audit.
Supervisor Rider moved, with a second by Councilperson Hern to approve the Town Bookkeeper's
books, the two Town Justice's books and the Town Clerk's books as presented as it appeared all
receipts were deposited in a timely manner, checks were accurately recorded with check images
shown on bank statements, and bank statements agreed with check registers on all months checked.
Vote: Councilperson Hern aye, Councilperson Howe-Strait aye, Supervisor Rider aye.
Councilperson Teeter absent. Carried
Councilperson Hern moved, with a second by Councilperson Howe-Strait to adjourn the meeting at
