The purpose of this workshop was solely to discuss the proposed highway facility in order to assist the Facilities Development Committee with fine-tuning the plans for the new highway facility. Chuck explained that a square building would be the most cost effective, followed by a rectangular shape. In planning the facility it was designed so expansion could occur in the future – both to the highway facility and additions of other buildings such as a Town Hall. Discussions followed on final design and cost concerns. These included building orientation, number of doors, possible storage space over the office, number of bathrooms, location of fence, and number of parking spaces. There was much discussion on the necessity of a wash bay and a salt storage unit. Chuck agreed to work up prices with both items included and with the items not included. He should have these figures ready to present to the board in two weeks. All board members present agreed this is a facility they can support the construction of. We cannot go to bid until the time has passed for a permissive referendum. If a vote is necessary, it would likely be held in November. Once bids are received, construction could begin in the spring of 2011. Workshop adjourned at 7:55 p.m. Respectfully submitted, Alice M. Linton Enfield Town Clerk
