HomeMy WebLinkAbout1992-11-11 November 11 , 1992 The Public Hearing on the Enfield Town Budget was called to order at 7 :30 pm with the following Town Board Members present : Elected Officials: Other Officials: Supervisor Jean Owens Town Clerk Jean Scofield Councilman Donald Lovelace Highway Supt . Ronald Updike Councilman Robert Linton Historian M. Clyde Hubbell Councilman Pat Dougherty Councilman Linda VanNederynen The legal notice placed in the Ithaca Journal was read by Supervisor Owens . Supervisor Owens asked for comments . Etta Gray commented on the Senior Citizens allocation of $2 ,000 . Will they receive the .full amount of $2 ,000 at once. The Senior Citizens are grateful to accept any amount that the "town is willing to give. Supervisor Owens will discuss with the Comptroller's Office on how they will receive the money. Greg Kirchgessner asked is it possible that the Fire Department could receive the extra $2 , 500 at one time. It. was answered yes, if it could be put in the contract. The Public Hearing was closed at 8 :00 pm. The Special Board Meeting was opened by Supervisor Owens . PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE Counc.ilraain Linton made a, motion to accept the Preliminary Budget as the Final Budget with the change of reducing the Unallocated Insurance line 1910.1 from $31,000 to $34,000 and adding $5,000 to the Contingency line 1990 .4 to $30 ,000 . Councilman Lovelace seconded the motion. Roll call vote: Councilman Dougherty - yes, Councilman Linton - yes , Councilman VanNederynen - yes , Councilman Lovelace - yes , Supervisor Owens - yes . Motion carried. NEW ROOF ON OLD TOWN BARN An estimate was received from Charles Hubbell for a new roof for $5, 640 on the old town barn. An estimate was asked from Gleason but did not receive one. Highway Supt . Updike said roof would collapse if there was a heavy snowfall . The building is used for storage and the building is needed by the Highway Department . Councilman Lovelace made a motion to accept Charles Hubbell 's estimate to have a new roof on the old town barn. Councilman Linton seconded the motion. Councilman VanNederynen asked if the cost would go up if the roof needed more work than anticipated. The estimate states that the cost of completing the work would be $5 , 640 .00 . Motion carried. I� r -2- HEATING SYSTEM FOR TOWN HALL MEETING ROOM Jack Hubbell asked if the Records Room would be affected. No, it would he the same as it is now. There would be no heating ducts entering the room. The cost would be $3 ,098 and would include a Miller Gun CMF 80 PO furnace, roof jack , base, oil lines , electric lines., 8" x 16" and 8" x 12" trunk, 6 registers, miscellaneous material and all labor to complete the job. (A heat loss calculation was done to determine the size of the furnace. ) The town responsibility would be to construct a single wall room around the furnace approximately 24" x 48" to be somewhat air tight allowing the furnace to draw return air from the meeting room, paint wall (concrete) where they (Agway) patched with concrete. The electric heat in the vault would remain -she same. Hull 's and Wheaton's were contacted for bids and did not show up with bids. Councilman VanNederynen made a motion to accept Agway's bid for the furnace in the meeting room. Councilman Lovelace seconded the motion. Motion carried. Etta Gray asked if the. Senior Citizens will hear when Supervisor Owens gets an answer from the Comptroller's Office. It was answered - yes. Etta Gray stated if the Senior Citizens obtain the $1,000 remaining in the 1992 budget they would like no restrictions on the money. Personnel Committee Meeting was scheduled on November 30, 1992 at 7 :00 pm at Councilman Dougherty' s home . Councilman Dougherty made a motion to adjourn. Councilman Lovelace seconded the motion.
