HomeMy WebLinkAbout1990-09-19 1 bJ September 19. 1990 The Public Hearing on the proposed Veteran's Tax Exemption Law,. proposed Senior Citizens Tax Exemption Law, and the Proposed Site Development Moratorium Law was called to order at 7:30 pm with the following Town Board members present: Elected Officials: Other Officials-- Supervisor Etta Gray Town Historian M. Clyde Hubbell Councilman Robert Linton Town Clerk Jean Scofield Councilman Onale Mente Councilman Donald Lovelace Councilman Andrew Kraft The proposed Veterans Tax Exemption Law was read by Supervisor Gray. Public comments: It was asked if it would have a negative impact on the town. Answered, No, figures show only 19 people are eligible for the exemption. Councilman Linton made a motion to close the public hearing. Councilman Lovelace seconded the motion. Motion carried. The proposed Senior Citizens Tax Exemption Law was read by Supervisor Gray. Public comments: It was asked How much the taxes were reduced. Answered: varies, it depends upon the income of the individual. Tt_:.s law would enable senior citizens to obtain the tax exemption the year they turned 65. The individual would not have to wait to be 65 before they applied. Councilman Linton made a motion to close the public hearing. Councilman Kraft seconded the motion. Motion carried. The proposed Site Development Moratorium was read by Supervisor Gray. Public comments: What is recommendation from Planning Board? Answered: They endorse it and have submitted a proposed Site Development Law. This law is only to make the moratorium a law instead of a resolution. Councilman Lovelace made a motion to close the public hearing. Councilman Kraft seconded the motion. Motion carried. Councilman Linton made a motion to accept the local law on the Veterans Tax Exemption. Councilman Kraft seconded the motion. . Roll call: Councilman Mente - yes, Councilman. Kraft - yes, Councilman Lovelace - yes, Councilman Linton - yes, Supervisor Gray - yes. Local Law #1 of 1990 passed. Councilman Mente made a motion to accept the local law on the Senior Citizens Tax Exemption. Councilman Lovelace seconded the motion. Roll call: Councilman Mente - yes, Councilman Kraft - yes, Councilman Lovelace - yes, Councilman Linton - yes, Supervisor Gray - yes. Local Law #2 of 1990 passed. Councilman Lovelace made a motion to accept the local law on Site Development Moratorium. Councilman Kraft seconded the motion. • Roll call: Councilman Mente - yes, Councilman Kraft - yes, Councilman Lovelace - yes, Councilman Linton - yes, Supervisor Gray - yes. Local Law #3 of 1990 passed. Councilman Linton made a motion to adjourn the meeting. Councilman Kraft seconded the motion. Motion carried.
