The regular meeting of the Enfield Town Board was held on Wednesday�_September

® PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE
PRIVELEGE OF THE FLOOR
Several concerned citizens spoke about their interest in obtaining or not
obtaining the old fire hall.
There is a possibility that Sandy Creek Trailer Park being included in a pilot
program for recycling reported by Bea Schwoerer.
MINUTES OF THE LAST MEETING
Minutes to the last meeting of August 3, 1988 were read by Town Clerk Jean
Scofield. There were no corrections. Councilman Linton suggested consolidating
invoices of the same company or individual to one total in the minutes.
Councilman Linton made a motion to accept the -minutes as read. Councilman
Lanning seconded the motion. Motion carried.
MINUTES TO THE SPECIAL TOWN BOARD MEETING
The minutes to the Special Town Board Meeting held on August 31, 1988 concerning
the Old Fire Hall were read by Town Clerk Jean Scofield. There were no correc-
tions. Councilman Mente made a motion to accept the minutes, Councilman Lanning
seconded the motion. Motion carried.
ADDITION & ',DELETIONS TO THE AGENDA
The Town Attorneys Report was deleted.
COUNTY BOARD REPRESENTATIVE'S REPORT
County Board Representative Dan Winch reported that he received several reports
by individuals on the good condition of the town roads.
There is a public health nurse shortage. There are 5 public health nurse vacancies
and one RN nurse vacancy in the. county. The impact is that there is discontinued
public health clinics in Newfield and Caroline. Also Lansing has been combined
with Groton. All Well-Baby Clinics, prenatal, and immunization clinics have been
affected by the shortage.
In most areas recycling has been well received. This is a good way to flake the
• new landfill last longer.
A resolution of accomodat:ion was made to 100 Tompkins Community Hospital employees
for employment longevity. The employees were honored on May 12, 1988 by the
hospital.
Representative Dan Winch is on a Ad Hoc Committee to study exempt taxpayers '
(except churches) in Tompkins County. The largest is Cornell University. He
will be attending a meetin on September 9, 1988 with the University Administration
to negotiate for support to the county. 35% of the properties in the county are
tax exempt.
HIGHWAY SUPERINTENDENT REPORT
Highway Superintendent David Puller reported that the new garage doors are done.
He has received a price of $3,877 from Mery Hammond for a. new furnace. He will
get a couple of more estimates.
Supt. Miller said he -ould like a new grader. The approximate cost would be
$66,000. The present one is very worn.
The inside of the highway garage has been painted.
ENFIELD COMMUNITY COUNCIL
The Enfield Community Council needs information for the newsletter by Sept. 12.
It was asked if there was possibility of a youth on the Town Board as a non-
voting member.
October 1, 1988 is the tentative date for the Harvest Festival. Sandy Trutt •
is in charge.
COMMUNICATIONS
Rick Dietrich of Danby is having a meeting of all towns on a proposal to the
County Youth Bureau on September 9, 1988 at the Cooperative Extension Building
on Day Street at 7:30 am.
A letter was received from the New York State Energy Office saying that there
is $11 million available for energy conservation.
BILLS
There is an ammendment to the August warrant. The Enfield Community Council
should be changed from $8,691.96 to $8,889.96.

Councilman Lanning made a. motion to pay the bills as- presented. Councilman
Kraft seconded the Motion. Motion carried.

OLD BUSINESS
Councilman Kraft made a motion to accept the old fire house from the Fire Company
for $1.00. Councilman Mente seconded the motion. Roll Call was taken.
Councilman Mente - yes
Councilman Linton - yes
Councilman Lanning - abstained
Councilman Kraft - yes
Supervisor Gray - yes
Motion carried.
Councilman Linton made a motion to declare the old overhead doors as excess
property and advertise them for bid. Councilman Kraft seconded the motion.
Motion carried.
A list for George Sinko to take to the County Transportation Committee:
1. School speed zone
2. Flashing stop light on Rt. 327 at corner of Route 79 and a caution light
light on Rt. 79
3. Warning sign on Rt. 327 for Fish Road junction
4. Intersection sign for Enfield Main Road and Enfield Center_ Road
Supervisor Gray will .put it in a letter to George Sinko.
NEW BUSINESS
The proposed 1989 Town. Budget was distributed.
Councilman Linton made a motion to adjourn the meeting. Councilman Kraft
seconded the motion. Motion carried. Meeting adjourned at 9:10 pm.
