David Miller • PLEDGE OF AT.TEGIANCE PRIVILEGE. OF THE FLOOR It was reported that the wetlands of Covert near Upper Treman Park and' Enfield Creek between Bostwick Road and Enfield Main Road will be investigated in a survey for environmental land of unique and natural areas Enfield Community Council is looking for volunteers to help with the Teen Progarm and Sumner Camp help. Carol Barriere also stated that there was a possibility of a Parks & Recreation Grant that may be available to renovate the old fire hall for a town recreational building. She also reported on the Municipal Youth Workshop she attended on the possibility of coordinating the youth services. M T#JTES OF LAST MEETING The minutes to the last meeting of April 6, 1988 were read by Town Clerk Jean Scofield. Corrections were as follows: Add Councilman Larry Lanning as present. The New York State Troopers station is a satalite station not a sub- station. The estimate for the garage doors on the Highway Building was $4,300 for each door. The old pickup truck was to be declared excess equipment at the May meeting Add "demonstration" to a pilot recycling program. The "EMC" will be working with Plantations at Cornell to do the inventory of natural areas. Councilman Lanning made a motion to accept the minutes with the corrections. Councilman Kraft seconded the motion. Motion carried. Supervisor Gray stated that Robert Rules of Order should be bought and kept in the Town Hall as they are the accepted rules of the Board meetings. Representative Jim Mason said that he was available to speak to people from 11:00 an to 2:00 pin weekdays. There was one foreclosure. It was deeded back to the owners the following day. • On May 17 there will be a decision to be made on what to do with Landstrom's when the DEC closes the landfill on June 30. Scranton, PA is the closest place to dump landfill at $50.00/ton. It will increase taxes by 50% a year. Representative Dan Winch reported that the County has received grants for TomTran and Carovan totaled $84,000. A historical paper was written by Neil Poppensiak on the Town of Enfield. Enfield was not included in the back-up sites if DR7 site fails because of the inclines to get to Enfield, Danby and Caroline. The new landfill will probably be financed by tipping fees and taxes. Town Attorney Report - No report Highway superintendent Report David Miller reported that the new pickup truck should be ready to be picked up the following Wednesday, May 11. Putting the old truck up for bid should be put on hold until we definitely have a truck. Councilman Linton made a motion to authorize the Highway Superintendent to put 2 overhead doors up for bid for the Highway Barn. Councilman Lanning seconded the motion. Motion carried. Mery Hammond was in to repair the furnace. Mr. Hammond state the furnace cannot be repaired. Dave Miller will get a second opinion and have it put in writing. Councilman Linton spoke with the cemetary caretakers. The mowing expense will stay the same as last year. Clyde Hall did not know that he was to receive an • increase last year of $50.00. He will get last year's $50.00 increase and this year's $50.00. $350.00 was added to the budget for clearing in the Christian Cernetary and $100.00 was added to the Rolfe and Pres. Cemetary for clearing. Con n inications A notice was received about the Tompkins County Municipal Officers Dinner at the Lehigh Valley House on May 17. A letter was received from the Arts Council asking for support from the Town. They are asking $.05 a head by population or $118.75. Councilman Linton made a motion to give $120.00 to the Arts Council. Councilman Lanning seconded the motion. Motion carried. The Enfield School will accept the tree from the City of Ithaca. Councilman Kraft seconded the motion. Motion • carried. The Town Board would like recommendations on an hourly rate for election inspectors. Town Clerk Jean Scofield will check on other towns at the Town Clerk monthly meeting. OLD BUSINESS Preparations for Clean-up Week going well. NEW BUSINESS It was suggested that Enfield have a junk car ordinance. It was asked as to what other towns are doing. Councilman Lanning will check with the other towns and report on his findings at the June Town Board meeting. Councilman Linton made a motion to adjourn. Councilman Mente seconded the motion.
