February 3, 1988 with the following members present:

PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE
PRIVELEGE OF THE FLOOR
Local town citizens voiced complaints of the rise of the town taxes.
Bea Schwoerer reported on the the Solid Waste Meeting. There has been
decided to wait for the possibility of state owned lands. There has
been no cooperation .from Landstrom's. The Board of Representatives needs
a bailing site of 3 acres.
MINUTES OF LAST MEETING
On page 2, it should read Highway Superintendent not Highway Supervisor.
Councilman Lanning made a motion to accept the minutes with the correction.
Councilman Kraft seconded the motion. Motion carried.
There should also be a separate entry for the minute books on the special
Annual Audit Meeting held on January 13, 1988 to read:
The General Fund, Highway Fund, Justices and Town Clerk books were audited
and approved at a special meeting held on January 13, 1988 at 8:00 pm held
in the Enfield Town Hall. Present were: Councilman Kraft, Councilman Mente,
Councilman Lintin, Supervisor Gray, Town Clerk Jean Scofield, Justice Bock,
Justice Smithers, Bookkeeper Pat Podufalski.
The Highway Committee report was added to the agenda. There would be no
County Board Representatives report.
Town Attorney Shirley Egan reported on the 50' x 50' parcel of land between
the Baptist Church and the Town Highway Building. It originally belonged
to 5 people and now their heirs. It presently is assessed as belonging to
the town. The fire company would like to use the land as an access to the
new fire hall. To obtain a clear title to this land, it would cost the town
approximately $200.
Councilman Linton requested that the Town Board be informed before Attorney
Egan is requested to do work for the town.
The Highway Superintendent reported on estimated prices for a new 3/4 ton
4 wheel drive truck with snow plow for the town. He estimated between
$13,000 - $16,000.
Councilman Lanning made a motion to put out the specifications for a 3/4
ton, 4 wheel drive truck with plow for bid. Councilman Mente seconded the
• motion. Motion carried.
Town Historian M. Clyde Hubbell presented his annual report to the Town Board.
He mention that the town bookkeepers books are not kept in fire-proof cabinets.
j The town vault needs to be cleaned out.
I Mr. Hubbell told the town board that this will be his last year as Town
Historian. He recommended that the town board should be looking for his
replacement.
Supervisor Gray will look into pricing of a fire-proof box or safe for the
bookeeppers records.
There was no Community Council report.
COMMUNICATIONS
A letter was received from Chase Manhatten saying there was $100,000
coverage for the 2 bank accounts in Tompkins County Trust Company.

Councilman Linton made a motion to pay .the above bills. Councilman Lanning
seconded the motion. Motion carried.
UNFINISHED BUSINESS
A 45 mile per hour speed limit has been ,set wherelthe 35 mile pet hour ends
on Route 327 to 'Hubbell Drive. A 50 mile per hour speed limit has also
been-set- from the junction of Route 327 and Route 79 to Black Oak Road.
There is a need for an intersection sign at Fish Road and Route 327 and a
school zone sign at the Enfield school area on Route 327.
Councilman Linton made a motion to open bids on the truck at the March
Board Meeting if the Superintendent can get the bids out in time.
Councilman Lanning seconded the motion. Motion carried.
NEW BUSINESS 4 ;
A request was read from New York State Electric & Gas for an easement
right on the Town Barn land to the new fire hall. No action was taken
until a iTYSEG representative can explain the map and answer questions on
the height of the wires.
It was decided to wait until an Enfield Community Council representative
was present to explain what is needed from the Town Board for them to
start programs.
February 24, 1988 at 7:30 was set for a meeting to meet with the 'Community
Council and NYSEG representatives to act on the above at the Town Hall.
It was suggested the Town Board invite Rhoda Linton to the .meeting.
Clean-up Week was scheduled for mid-May. Supervisor Gray will get price
quotes for disposal.
Councilman Lanning made a motion for adjournment. Councilman Kraft
seconded the motion. Motion carried. Meeting was adjourned at 11:33 pm.
