HomeMy WebLinkAbout1984-12-26 ^x . TOWN OF ENFIELD R.D. #5 ITHACA. N.Y. 14850 i December 26, 1984 A Public Hearing was held on the above date regarding the Veteran's Real Property Tax Exemption. Supervisor Roger Hubbell read the proposed Local Law #2 of 1984 as follows: A Local Law not to have the exemption of section 458-a of the Real Property Tax Law apply to the Town of Enfield. Section I - Pursuant to the authority of subdivision 4 of section 458-a of the Real Property Tax Law, the Town of Enfield elects not to have the exemption of such section 4[8-a apply to the town. Section II - This local law shall take effect immediately upon filing in the office of the Secretary of State. A short discussion was held and a few questions answered. Public Hearing on the Veteran's Real property Tax Exemption was closed at 7:41 PM. A Public Hearing was held on the above date starting at 8:00 PM regarding, the Fireman's contract. Supervisor Roger Hubbell stated that only Paragraphs 7 and 8 would be changed from the 1984 contract - Paragraph #7 - Amount of $54,470 payable in three equal installments and Paragraph #8 - a portion of $10,000 be set aside for purpose of building fund but if improper will be returned to the town. Discussion was held and input by several of the residents and firemen that were present, mostly about not having the contract ready for review and signing. Attorney Shirley Egan advised the public hearing was for the public input on how much the town to spend on fire protection. Supervisor Roger Hubbell stated there would be a special meeting after the public hearings to try and solve the problem about the contract itself. Firemen stated that they could not operate without the signed contract. Public Hearing on the Firemen's contract was closed at 8:35 PM. A Public Hearing was held on the above date starting at 8:30 PM regarding cable television franchise for the Town of Enfield. Discussion was held with Lee Haefele about the cable system. If he can get Hector in with our system the rates would be cheaper. The trailer park rates would change, but would have more channels and the existing disc in the park would come out. Public Hearing on cable television franchise was closed at 9:10 PM. A Special Meeting by the Enfield 'Town Board was held on the above date at 9,12 PM. Discussion was held on when the fire contract could be ready. Dennis Hubbell to pick up the copies at Attorney Egan'8 tomorrow afteT*,ioon at 2:30 PM. David Bock made a motion for the Town Board to authorize the supervisor to enter into a contract with the Enfield Volunteer Fire Company providing for payment totalling $54,470, with $10,000of that amount to be designated for building fund and $6,250 truck replacement fund. Larry Stilwell seconded the motion. Motion carried. Discussion was held over the wording of the cable television franchise. Larry Stilwell. made a motion to award the franchse to Haefele TV, Inc. and to authorize the supervisor to sign the agreement. Roger Laue seconded the motion. Motion carried.
