ENFIELD GRANGE
.1& MERS FIND F LI MS
October 21, 1966
Several people have suggested that the Enfield Grange should
have some means of letting people know what they are up too. Ile have
decided the only way to let everyone know was to compile some sort of
newsletter on past projects, coning events and persons of interest.
Our recent past includes the October 11th meeting where clE30fta
members were present. The previous officers were reinstated for another
year. Announcement was made of the upcoming card party. Important plans
were laid concerning the November meeting and you will find out what
these are as you read the coming events.
We experimented with a dish to pass supper followed by a card
party at the flitch Gray's on October 15th. Our experiment proved to be
successful as far as we were concerned. There were 23 people at the
supper and enough for seven card tables later. We added $15.00 to our
treasury. Nle think this might be a good idea to keep in mind for a
Christmas party if enough people were interested. Such a variety of food
you have never seen. All delicious too.
One problem that has shown up as a result of our card parties
is our lack of tables. %e find that we cr.n get tables without money if
we can find enough people who would be willing to donate either a stamp
book or just loose stamps toward cause. Gold Bond or S & H stamps seem
to be the more common. Books may be brought to the next meeting, card
party or left with George Stark. Won't you see if you have some stamps
for us somewhere?
On October 14th, George and ilildred Stark, Fred D. Rumsey, Bob
Carpenter and Roger Brown traveled to Tioga Center where Bob and Roger
took the sixth degree. They reported a very interesting time.
Now for coming events..... The next card party, which will be
held in the home of Robert Carpenter, will be October 29th. The Stark's
will host the third party this year on November 12th. Hope to see you
at both.

Our regular meeting night for November falls on the 8th. This
will be an open meeting for all families. Miss Mabel Secor has consented
to show her slides and discuss her trip around the world. We would like
a nice turnout for Hiss Secor, a retired teacher who comes from our
neighboring community of Cayutaville. We promise not to stay too late so
please plan to be there. Refreshments will be served.
If this newsletter goes over well, we plan to follow up with
another including a brief item of interest on some of our members.
I'm sure we have lost tract of some. ^!e, of course, can't get everyone
reviewed in one writing so we hope you are interested enough to want to
keep this newsletter going. Our next letter , we hope, will contain the
names of those presently listed on our membership. This is for memory's
sake.
Drop us a line if you have any ideas for reactivating or
building up our Grange. Average meeting attendance is low and might be
of sincere concern in the future. ','e surely would hate to see our Grange
become nothing. One very important way you can help is by marking down
each of the afore mentioned upcoming events on your calandar and trying
to attend as many as possible.
Presently on our sick list is :Irs. C.W. (Lina) Jones, who was
in the Tompkins County Hospital for a few days last week but is home now
and recovering satisfactorily. If there are others who are ill, we extend
our sincere good wishes for fine recoveries. %Te regret that we do not
know who you might be but if someone could let us know of anyone ill, we
would include this in our next letter. It gives each one of us a warm
feeling to think that we might have cheered someone up by sending them a
card. Let us know.
DO SOMETHING ABOUT: Exercise your freedom. Be sure to
vote on November 8th. '!hat we often take for granted, others
would willingly die for. Everyone should consider voting
both a privilege and a responsibility.
THIHIC SOiIETHING ABOUT: You'll never know how much your
helping hand is worth until you extend it.
