Dear Grange Members and Friends;
We are heading into theholidayseason with a very busy agendaforNovember
and December.. We thought you'd like to know what's up.
First of all we"want-vou to know about the Election Day Supper. We plan to
feed. about- 250 people again -this year and we need the help of-every"Grange member
because without YOU, we're nothing. We hope _you'll like this years' menu:
Turkey Ham Dressing
Squash Applesauce
MrNu
Mashed Potatoes` Gravy
Cabbage Salad Pickles Rolls
Beverages
Cranberry Sauce
Homemade Pies
Serving -will -start at 5:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 4th. The price for adults
will be $1.75_, children -5 to 12 will be 75� and under 5 will -be our guests. We
hope you will plan to come and bring the whole family..
The Junior Grange is planning to have a Bake Sale at the same time. Maybe
they will have some goodies you'd like to take home with you. These children are
working hard, along_ with their Junior Matron, Blanch Lovelace, let's give them
all the support we can.-

Congratulations to all of the new (and old) officers. I know Roger will be
asking for help on different projects, so let's help him all -we can. Being Master
isn't an easy"job as many "of -you know.
We ,were -honored to have Brother William Elkins and his_team from Burdett
Grange install our officers again this year. Installation took place Tuesday, Oct.'
21st. This year Ulysses Grange officers were installed at the same time as the
Enfield officers, "Grange members and families from Burdett, Ulysses"and Enfield
gathered -at"6_:30 for a.dish=to-pass supper. What a feast! Installation began aL
:di0 p.m. Everyone -had a very pleasant and inspiring evening.

Junior Grange had its election of cfficers in September too. They will be
installed during November by a team from our Subordinate Grange. They, too, ha, 7F
a good slate of hard working officers and should progress by leaps and bounds this

In September, Millicent and Raymond Carpenter spent two days a Lecturers'
School and are off again this week to attend State Grange in Albany. It's nice to
have people like_ them around that can go to meetings out of town and bring back
new ideas.
In October, at our regular Grange meeting, -vie had two guests from Pomona Grange,
Brother Nick Lamont and Brother Joseph Peterson. They presented a report from
Pomona on the future of the Grange in 'Tompkins Courcy, This report will be-sscussec
at future Subordinate meetings and ideas sent back to Pomona. All those interested
should plan to be on hand tQ give their ideas.
We are still having card parties every other Saturday night at 8:00 p.m. If
you would like to host a party, give George Stark a call. He could use some help.
It's really not a hard joba't all. The next one is scheduled -for November 8th.
Some of our Grange members have been under the weather lately. Harvey Stevenson
and Bill Achilles; just to mention two, have been in the hospital." Jack Thall is
presently a"patient at Tompkins Countv hospital. We hope these people are all on
the mend. Try to remember to let Elizabeth Rumsey know when a Granger is sick so
she can send a card.
Fred Rumsey, Emma Powell and Myrtie Rothermich all celebrate a 93rd birthday
in"October. Arthur Daharsh is coming along nicely after surgery this summer. John
Smith has the cast off his ankle that he -fractured last month. Fran Newhart is
feeling better after fracturing her wrist recently and Bernice Tucker is coming
along nicely after breaking her hip in a fall on her birthday August 3rd.
Another project coming up -soon is a Rummage Sale. We are going to work with
the EnfieldMethodistChurch on this sale. They have some rummage and so do we.
Together, we ought to have enough for a Jig sale. Helen Smith and Millicent Carp-
enter are in charge of planning the sale. If you have any -questions, (or answers)
why don't you give one of them a call Donations will be accepted anytime the Grang
is open. The sale will be Friday, November 7th from 5:00 p.m. thru 9:00 p.m. and
Saturday, -November 8th, from 10:00"a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
- The Junior Grangers plan -to have a Halloween Party and Hay -ride at Bob Carp-
enter's on Friday, October 31st -at -7:30 p.m On November 1st they will meet at
the Grange Hall at 10:00 a.m". to bake -fes: the Bake Sale. Mrs. Lovelace will
furnish lunch for the bakers.
